It’s almost time to reveal the results of the annual Gavin Brown Medal, aka one of the few awards where Collingwood players get votes in games they win.

This is likely to be one of the most unpredictable counts in years, with at least five players in with a realistic chance of winning. Will reigning champ Jack Crisp make it two in a row? Will Jordan De Goey do a Lazarus with a triple bypass after a near-career-ending off-season? Will three-time champ Scott Pendlebury add another late-career accolade? Will Nick Daicos cap off an incredible debut season? Or will his brother upstage him?

You’ll discover all the answers here … sometime in the next few days.

It's a pretty tight race so far! Currently seems like a three-way race between Crisp, De Goey and Pendlebury, but I have a feeling the Daicos brothers will start to catch up soon.

One interesting quirk I've noticed so far is that no fewer than five players have been judged best on ground in one match without polling a single vote in any other game. Neutral

I'd also completely forgotten how good Grundy was earlier in the season. It was a surprise to see him in the lead after round 4 and still picking up votes as late as Anzac Day. Suggests that he would have been a strong contender for this year's GB Medal if it hadn't been for his injury.

Crisp is opening up a decent lead, but Noble has seemingly come from nowhere to move to fourth! No way I would have guessed that he and Howe would be top five at this stage of the season (though the love being shown to defenders doesn't seem to be extending to Darcy Moore, who is still on doughnuts).

That's it for tonight! Will try to pick this up and do a few more rounds tomorrow.

The only real question at this stage is whether anyone can catch Jack Crisp; we know the second half of his home and away season was relatively quiet and that De Goey should pick up some BOGs later on, but I'm not sure who else will poll enough votes consistently. Could be an exciting finish yet!
