What if Michael Christians son is drafted and then gets off after a Cripps like hit during the season? Laughing

All the pieces are now in play -
President, CEO, Coach, GM of Football.
I can't help but think this is now the management team to finally right this ship, particularly off the field.
I'm as optimistic as I've ever been about the direction of the Club. I look forward to when supporters / members will be more acutely acknowleged, and whose contributions are viewed as more than just through the lens of their financial commitment.

Jeff Brown-President has full filled the role without a lot of media glare

Simalar has Grahame Wright as GM —not prone to fluster or confusion

Both roles are IMHO being conducted correctly

Now we have a new CEO who I consider will be like the other two -cool & controlled

^Agreed. I was sceptical given the old boy connections and CV comparison with an obvious star like Holgate, but as I said at the time people can surprise to the upside (and conversely, people you think would do well can disappoint), so once it's done you give them a crack and see where the chips fall.

They've done superbly on two fronts, among others: (1) having the nous to identify and hire McRae, and (2) making us a much smaller target. On the latter, perhaps they shared some of our concerns watching from afar, but couldn't say this outright for fear of offending their predecessors.

Making us a much smaller target takes the heat out of absolutely everything, and helps no end with making us a destination of choice for those players who want focus on what they do best without the histrionics (which is no doubt most players).

The KFC deal is a very ugly look for a sporting team when obesity is linked to so much disease, and the initial treatment of de Goey was a fail. But if lessons are learned from the way our coach conducted himself in relation to Jordy, that's good too. People need a chance to learn from those around them, bearing in mind they had the sense to hire McRae, putting themselves in a position to learn from a quality person. I even let the KFC thing go because the pres was new (though I will judge the reputation of the next sponsor harshly because they'll have restored our reputation well and truly at this rate, and will have choices).

Congratulations to Browne, Wrighty and McRae for an excellent year, and looking forward to seeing what the Cement Truck brings to the table if they think he's the right fit and it happens. Onward and upward, with a very strong showing so far.

I’d like to add a comment on the small target thing

When we were going thru the destabilisation of Jordon the drums of media beat loud

Both club and Jordan have reached an adult solution and the club and Jordan are traveling as smooth as we can expect

The media drums that heralded gloom and doom went silent when the two parties came to an adult compromise

Given that as an example of how we are tracking we can all be proud

Will he be as pinchy with club finances as he was with Jason Dunstall on the field?

Should put Gary Ablett Senior on the Board and see how they get on.

Do you think he will be able to afford a razor blade now?

A bit harsh with the pinchy, at least he didn't try biting someone's elbow as did Ben Doolan Shocked

I was at that match when Doolans teeth fell out, sitting in the Social Club.
The year before, Doolan having a reputation as a bit of an enforcer and hard nut, he and Millane came together in a contest on the boundary right in front of us (ironically the opposition bench was also in front of the Social Club). Doolan jumped up to square up before coming face to face with The Raging Bull. Pants gave him a death stare and inches away from his face went "boo". Doolan jumped back, much to the delight of the crowd.
Doolan was tough though.

Craig Kelly is the original pincher, but there was one man he didn't go near...

I remember both incidents, er... fondly. Pretty sure I was at the games too. The '90s were a bit of a blur decade for me, being 20-something throughout, if you know what I mean. Incidents remembered, my location, not so much Smile Embarassed
