Yes, it was a brainfade of the worst order by Stokes - and from a player who had been batting so cautiously. It made no sense. They were 5/201 and apparently cruising to victory at that point. It seemed to unsettle Root, as well - and his wicket followed almost immediately. |

Yeah, Wagner has a lotta guts. Some atrocious shots to get out to his short balls... Sheesh... Stokes's and Root's dismissals were really ugly. Almost as bad as FTB Smith's to the short ball. |

NZ have not lost a home Test series since losing to S. Africa in March 2017. But their last three, all since 2022, have been 1-1 draws. Their previous eight, on the way to becoming inaugural World Test Champions, were wins. |
