It'll be like Woewoedin.

Every year, he talked about how he wanted to smash Melbourne.

Eventually, Balme told him to zip it! Exclamation

---------------------------------------------

Anyway...

Matthew Lloyd is confident of a Pies win 'cos Melb's forward line is broken. He reckons Gawn looks their most threatening forward, so they should sacrifice the ruck and play Gawn solely forward.

Hope we don’t lose Hosk and Beau. Sidey’s absence was obvious
last week, and with De Goey out we’re going to be up against it.

https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/afl-2023-round-13-team-tips-squads-predictions-ins-and-outs-injuries-dropped-players-supercoach/news-story/14193aa0ebc1d4f5e7afe872c333befa

Team Tips: Melbourne was expecting to be boosted by the return of Clayton Oliver for its blockbuster King’s Birthday showdown with Collingwood, but the superstar midfielder was sidelined with an infected blister on Tuesday. He could not train and remains day-to-day, while Jack Bowey will miss the game due to concussion and James Harmes was hit with a one-match ban. Jake Melksham is free to return from suspension for the Demons and could earn a reprieve as a the medical sub, while Michael Hibberd is also set to return after being rested against Carlton and would help fill the defensive void left by Bowey.

Team Tips: There’s plenty of moving parts at Collingwood amid injury concerns and Jordan De Goey’s looming suspension. For now, De Goey is the only forced out, but Beau McCreery and Will Hoskin-Elliott (both ankle) are also in doubt after suffering setbacks in last week’s win over West Coast. It comes as the Pies could regain Jamie Elliott, Dan McStay and Patrick Lipinski from injury, the latter of whom is pushing to play his first game of 2023. Given McStay, who hasn’t played since Round 5, and Lipinski have missed so much time, you sense Elliott is the only lock to walk straight back into the senior team. Will Kelly (22 disposals, nine marks), Tom Wilson (24 touches), Trey Ruscoe (23 possessions), Finlay Macrae (25 disposals ), Reef McInnes (2.3 from 12 possessions) and Trent Bianco (24 touches) are all options to come into the side after promising VFL performances.

Except that’s not the AFL listed Tom Wilson ( albeit the AFL version kicked 4 goals ) Of that lot, Ruscoe was probably our best performer but we’re very stable down back. In terms of finding a mid, if Lipinski is fit, I’m taking him every day over Carmichael or MacRae. It’s going to be the match committees most interesting selection meeting to date in 2023.

Who thinks that Collingwood would rest McCreery and WHE this week.

We donot need to risk players at this stage.

100% if not you dont play its that simple.

Yeh, Hillbilly Gawn said that "Grundy is really fired up for this match, against his old side, cannot wait ". Oh really, Hillbilly, bring it on, cant wait for Mason Cox and Cameron to kick his arse, so bring it on pal, bring it on. Razz Razz Cool Cool

Peter Moore cup.

Peter played for both Collingwood and Melbourne.

Played in his prime for the Pies tho.

Others could be Lyndon Dunn.

Currently on our list i know but Howe also played for Melb.

Please clarify why it’s a Melbourne home game

The same that thing that has happened every year on scheduled blockbuster matches on Queen / Kings birthday and ANZAC day. I'll give you a very cryptic hint, who's home game was it last year?

Last time : Round: 13 Venue: M.C.G. Date: Mon, 13-Jun-2022 3:20 PM Attendance: 76059

Collingwood 0.5.5 ; 3.8.26 ; 6.10.46 ; 12.10.82
Melbourne 3.1.19 ; 5.4.34 ; 7.6.48 ; 8.8.56
Qtr by qtr margin ME by 14 ; ME by 8 ; ME by 2 ; CW by 26 .

AFLCA VOTES PLAYER (CLUB)
10 Mason Cox (COLL)
8 Clayton Oliver (MELB)
4 Brody Mihocek (COLL)
3 Jack Crisp (COLL)
3 Angus Brayshaw (MELB)
2 Darcy Moore (COLL)

Melbourne Team Tips: Melbourne was expecting to be boosted by the return of Clayton Oliver for its blockbuster King’s Birthday showdown with Collingwood, but the superstar midfielder was sidelined with an infected blister on Tuesday. He could not train and remains day-to-day, while Jack Bowey will miss the game due to concussion and James Harmes was hit with a one-match ban. Meters gained have been critical part of Fly's gameday DNA.

*Lipinksi averaged 284.64 meters gained over 2022.
*WHE averaged 233.62 meters gained over 2022 / 211.33 over 2023.
*McCreery averaged 192.86 meters gained over 2022 / 223.25 over 2023.
*Markov averaged 382.55 meters gained over 2022 / 200.89 over 2023.
*Carmichael averaged 196.14 meters gained over 2022.

In the absence of McCreery and WHE, Carmichael or Markov are the only ones that can cover that sort of output.

Carmichael is a reliable goal-kicker and tackler, so naturally looms as a likely McCreery replacement if the moon boot doesn't come off during the week.
Markov looks as the natural WHE replacement.
Good options in any event, I'd be happy to play both.

Give Elliott (shoulder) the extended break, albeit we'll miss his and McCreery's forward pressure. It's one thing I'm concerned about in this match, who delivers the F50 pressure? Ginnivan I can't trust at the moment do that.
As a result give Carmy the nod and keep Harrison in and Ginny as the sub. Harrison should keep his spot in order to show us what he's got, and give Ginni a clear message that 1 tackle against WCE (9 in 8 games) isn't the standard that gets you automatic selection.

Finally, Brodie Grundy has asked for the first centre bounce against his old side, as captain Max Gawn says his new ruck partner wants to “prove a point” in the King’s Birthday clash.
Grundy will face Collingwood for the first time since he was pushed out of the club with five years to run on his contract in a salary dump trade.

Last time we played them was Round 21
We won 96-89 and ran over the top of them again.

Oliver, Petracca, Brayshaw and Gawn all dominated for the Dees
Jamie Elliott and Ash Johnson both kicked 4 and DeGoey and Nick Daicos had brilliant games as we fought hard for the win.
