To cap off a magnificent season for the Pies – the mostly ups and occasional downs of which we've endured and celebrated here on Nick's – it's time for that venerable annual institution: the 2023 Gavin Brown Medal count!

To recap, the Gavin Brown Medal is the oldest, best and (as far as I can be bothered to check) only award voted on by Collingwood fans. It has given all of us who love the club the opportunity to recognise those who've worn the black and white over a whole generation of the club's history, now encompassing eighteen seasons, four coaches, five captains and two premierships, and has returned seven different winners (many of which have won the award on multiple occasions). Will regular place-getter Jordan De Goey take the next step? Will new captain Darcy Moore controvert the common wisdom that defenders don't get votes? Will reigning champ Jack Crisp score a hat-trick? Or will Scott Pendlebury turn back the clock and win his fourth medal?
