Round 21 vs Hawthorn
5. Scott Pendlebury
4. Jack Crisp
3. Jamie Elliott
2. Beau McCreery
1. Jeremy Howe
And that's that – with neither Josh nor JDG polling any votes and only six matches left, Nick Daicos has won.
Still plenty of votes to come, of course! The race for 2nd will be interesting, as will finding out who was our best player of the finals series.

In terms of the final count, Jack Crisp's 27-vote win in 2021 is the biggest ever (and I'm guessing probably won't be surpassed this time around), but not sure what's been the biggest during the season – it may well be that Nick's 33-vote gap here is it. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

Round 22 vs Geelong
5. Josh Daicos
4. Nathan Murphy
3. Brody Mihocek
2. Patrick Lipinski
1. Isaac Quaynor
We really spread the votes around for this one – 17 individual players received at least one vote in the thread, which must be some kind of record!
Josh making a strong push for 2nd place.

Round 24 vs Essendon
5. Jordan De Goey
4. Tom Mitchell
3. Jack Ginnivan
2. Isaac Quaynor
1. Will Hoskin-Elliott
Both Ginni and WHE poll for the first time this year! In Hoskin-Elliott’s case, it’s his first vote polled since Round 15 last year, which breaks a streak of thirty matches without a Gavin Brown Medal vote. I wonder if that’s a record…
(Edit: not even close, it turns out – Beau McCreery’s two votes against Hawthorn in Round 21 were the first time he’d polled since Round 10, 2021! That’s 46 matches straight without a GB Medal vote.)

Congratulations to Nick Daicos, winner of his first Gavin Brown Medal! Despite only polling a single vote after Round 18, he's polled the equal third-highest vote tally in the history of the award (behind Brodie Grundy with 78 in 2018, Dayne Beams with 64 in 2012 and tying with Jack Crisp with 61 in 2021). At just 20 years of age, he also becomes the youngest ever winner of the award (behind Beams and Dane Swan, who were each 22 in 2012 and 2006 respectively).
Jordan De Goey caps off an impressive season with his second second-place finish and highest ever vote tally, only just scraping past Josh Daicos thanks to a dominant preliminary final performance. For Josh's part, this is his second third-place finish in a row.
The ever-reliable Scott Pendlebury finishes fourth. He hasn't finished lower than fourth in the Gavin Brown Medal since all the way back in 2008 – so that makes fifteen straight top four finishes for him now.
And rounding out the top five is two-time defending champ Jack Crisp, who overcame a slow start to poll a lot of votes in the second half of the season. Nearly half of those came in the finals series; and, with 11 votes across those three matches, that also makes him our best player of the finals series, edging out Bobby Hill (9 – his only votes for the year, remarkably!) and Steele Sidebottom (8).
Possibly for the first time in the award's history, we don't have a best first year player award as no debutants got any votes. But if we're to count players who've been traded in from elsewhere, then congrats to Tom Mitchell for wrapping up a terrific first year in black and white, finishing sixth with 24, while Hill (9), Billy Frampton (7) and Dan McStay (2) also picked up votes.
And that leads us to this year's Donut King award, an ignominious honour that brings far more shame on us than them: the medal for the player who played the most matches without scoring a single vote. That, I regret to say, is Oleg Markov, who played 23 matches for a grand total of 0 votes (my own best efforts notwithstanding – I think I gave him votes most weeks, but it never quite caught on! ) Honourable mention to Ash Johnson, for fifteen matches and at least one exceptional mark without anything to show for it.
Thanks to everyone who voted this year, and who has more generally made this forum such a great place to be on. I couldn't think of a nicer bunch to share the joy of this premiership with. Love youse all! _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

So, the finals series vote tallies were:
Crisp 11
Hill 9
Sidebottom 8
De Goey 5
Perndlebury 4
Quaynor 4
Mitchell 2
N. Daicos 1
WHE 1.
Jack Crisp was the only player in the (tallied) votes in all three finals games. Hill, Sidebottom, Pendlebury and Quaynor each polled in two. |

The one who I really hope will lift next finals series – presuming we make it next year – is Josh Daicos, who's conspicuously absent from the above list as the only player who finished in the top 8 who didn't get a vote across any finals this season. He's now played eight finals for only three votes (1 in the Elimination Final vs West Coast in 2020 and 2 in last year's qualifying final against Geelong); by way of contrast, across the same eight finals, Crisp has racked up 24 votes. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

Magnificent count well done David and all those who voted. Just wants to call out the strong performance from Isaac Quaynor this year. Thought IQ has had a great year and the GB votes indicate he was our best general defender. Outstanding effort! _________________ Premiership Pies made it legendary in 2023, don’t let them forget it. #Go PIES 2024…. |

Superb effort David. Thank you.
It will be interesting to see how closely the Copeland voting corresponds with the Gavin Brown medal. |
