If that's the excuse, there shouldn't be an AB Medal. It's an individual award.

Dunno how batters failing to make runs is "doing the team thing".

But it's even worse. FTB Smith bats so slowly it puts pressure on the other batters to slog to make up for his slow batting. Especially in white-ball cricket. And not just FTB. Also Mr NickIt, Khawaja. Media said the selectors won't consider picking Bancroft until Mr NickIt retires. They want a fast scorer to make up for Khawaja's slow scoring. When news broke that FTB and Mr NickIt were opening, the funniest reader comment was:
"Oz shall be 0/11 at lunch." Laughing

Of course, Bancroft has other problems. e.g. He's LBW a lot. Not as bad as FTB of course, but still a lot.

And FTB not only bats slowly but often BBQs his batting partners running between the wickets. (Just ask Finch, Wade, Maxwell, ...) Mr NickIt should be worried.

Pat Cummins has been named Wisden's Cricketer of the Year.

Last Oz winner: Michael Clarke 12 years ago.

"The Cricketer of the Year award is the oldest individual award in cricket and dates back to 1889, with selection primarily based on performances in the previous English summer."

(Gould & Cherny, The Australian)
