The club email to members.

Quote:
Dear .......,

The Collingwood Football Club is pleased to announce the launch of a new documentary, Take the Steps.

Taking viewers behind the scenes of Collingwood’s 2023 AFL finals series, the story focuses on the program’s journey to claim the Club’s sixteenth VFL/ AFL Premiership.

The Take the Steps premiere will be screened in front of 400 people on Wednesday, February 28 and HOYTS Cinema in Melbourne Central.

The 90-minute film will be shown exclusively at HOYTS Cinemas across the country in the weeks following*.

While the documentary tells the story of the entire AFL program, the story follows the journey of four individuals in Senior Coach Craig McRae, Captain Darcy Moore, Scott Pendlebury and Nick Daicos.

In only his second year as a senior coach, Craig McRae navigates the journey to become just the sixth premiership-winning coach in Collingwood history.

Captain Darcy Moore leads the team in his first year as Captain. The son of Collingwood great Peter Moore – who has lost four Grand Finals – Darcy fights to lift his father’s premiership curse.

Scott Pendlebury, 35, nearing the end of his career and arguably one of the Club’s greatest players, has the opportunity to experience ultimate team success once again.

Nick Daicos, in his second AFL season, fights in a race against the clock to return to the field from injury.

The title of the film, Take the Steps, was a motivational phrase used throughout the 2023 campaign. The playing group were challenged in the pre-season and climbed the steps of the MCG on the eve of their 28-week season. Take the Steps became a metaphor of the hard work required to achieve ultimate success of an AFL premiership.

Surely will be available elsewhere once the “Hoyts Exclusive” is over?

I hope so because many Victorian towns haven’t got Hoyts and it’s a bit unfair that country supporters don’t have the opportunity to see it.

I am a bit disappointed that the club and Hoyts are trying to milk supporters and members out of $18-25 to watch something that is usually free.

Its a pretty big deal to get it into a public cinema on the big screen.
Let's get behind it and rock up in our pies gear. The chant will happen at the end. Excited. GO PIES...

Yeah I get that but there are plenty of smaller cinemas in the country areas that can play it to a target audience like Collingwood supporters if they want to.

They should have a screening at AIA centre,
imagine a 5000+ crowd watching it

Not a Hoyts close by, but I'll be at the Highpoint session on the 4th.
Most sessions we're 90% full at Highpoint and the two city cinemas. Watergardens had heaps of empty seats.
Someone I know said Frankston was 99% full.
I wonder if it'll screen for more than just the one week?

Margaret Pomeranz and David Stratton have given their reviews:

Pomeranz: "I can tell you - I sat through it all and I was so exhilarated! The running, the kicking, the firm young buttocks. I loved it!" I give it five stars.”

Stratton: “A ludicrous spectacle of violent, rampaging young men chasing a ball. It’s like a poorly cast sequel to Romper Stomper. Two stars from me. But my, Margaret, you look ravishing tonight.”

It won't correct the oversight by the Club not using The Tennant's music but enjoy ~
