Heading into this season, my expectation on Steele Sidebottom was that he would enter the elite bracket & really challenge Pendles as the no.1 player at the club. Sidey fell short of this expectation for me just. A fantastic start to the year, a best on ground performance v Brisbane in the opening round of the year before finding out he had suffered a broken thumb during the game. It was then a 6 week layoff for Steele which was a shame before he returned and once back, for me he never quite recaptured that game breaking form we came to know from previous years. Yes he did have another very good year but just not at the level I or many others expected. Looking ahead to 2016, I still expect Steele to really move forward as a player, develop as a leader & really move into the elite status of the competition. Sidey is a very very good player, a terrific user of the footy & reads the play so well but it is now time for him to become a great player.
