Pura Cup Final

Post by Donny »

Martin Love won the toss and sent NSW in to bat in the Pura Cup final at the Gabba.

It looked a good move when Adam Dale dismissed Greg Mail for 2 but since then Michael Slater (70) and Simon Katich (54) have added 139 for the second wicket.

NSW are 2/200 after 60 overs.

Slats (100) made an excellent century - 197 balls, 12 fours and 2 sixes - and Katich is 78 n.o.

The Bulls are right back in this one!

After a great partnership between Slater(100) and Katich(82), NSW lost 5/39 late in the day to be 6/233 at stumps.

Michael Kasprowicz (2/79) dismissed the top scorers and Joe Dawes (3/41) claimed Steve Waugh(9), Michael Clarke(0) and Brad Haddin(1) to wrest back the initiative.

A very interesting game huh Donny? Wish I was there to watch it, it really annoys me that it's not on tv at all! I hope NSW win!

Queensland have just been dismissed for 84, narrowly avoiding the follow on.

Wade Seccombe remained 24 n.o. and was the only batsman to score over 15.

Stuart MacGill took 5/16 from 5.2 overs, Don Nash bowled 5 overs and took 2/9 and Greg Mail took 2/12 from 7 overs.

NSW lead by 198 runs.

NSW are 1/57 in their second innings, 255 ahead of Q'land and it's only the sixth session of the 5 day match.

Katich (32) and Mail (22) are batting steadily. If NSW can keep their wickets, they'll be near 500 ahead by stumps tomorrow with two days to play. Mind you, that's just a possible scenario.

A NSW crash could see The Bulls needing 350 with 240 overs left in the match! Then there's the possibility of a rain out in which case Q'land would win the Cup!

Dawes just dismissed Katich. 2/62.

At stumps, NSW are 4/166 with Steve Waugh (47) and Mark Waugh (20) at the crease. They now lead by 364.

Mail scored 47 and Katich, 36. Clarke (11) again missed his chance to impress the Aussie selectors.

Nice lead by NSW I don't think they can lose this one now! Clarke definately didn't impress they couldn't believe the way he was batting on the radio said he looked like he was batting with five overs left in a one day match!

NSW were dismissed for 263 with Steve Waugh scoring 56 and Mark Waugh, 38.

Kasper took 3/70, Dawes 3/64 and Noffke, 2/19. Dawes had a top season and picked up 8 wickets for the match.

Q'land lost a wicket just before lunch to be 2/49 and still 413 behind.

With at least 255 overs left in the match, The Bulls have the time and the overs to win the Cup but that's highly improbable.
