post deleted or moved, poster instant yellow and 6 hour ban, PM from mod telling them why they are a douche.
Posts aren't always deleted for abuse or any other banable offense. Sometimes a mod just might not like it. It's in these instances I think there should be more transparency.

Actually, the mods only delete posts that we believe infringe the Rules. What that infringement might be can vary in interpretation though - its an imperfect world.

Most often the reason for the deletion should be obvious to anyone that has actually read the Rules, but we will attempt to explain any deletion or similar action where time allows. Often you people go off on some weird direction and there are many posts and little time.

If you ever wonder why, ask. One of us will generally get back to you as soon as we can. Remember that we are volunteers and sometimes we are all caught up on other matters.

Can you please tell me what rule is broken when a poster (me) replies to a question from another poster in a thread and has that post deleted by a mod just so that said mod can make it appear he/she answered before me?

This is an extreme case I know, but it happened.

I appreciate what you guys do WPW, we all do. But there are certainly some very over zealous moderator (not a typo) who frustrate a lot of us.

This is where I think my original idea is valid. JG's example is exactly what I meant. Just helps to keep a bit of transparency and everybody honest. Not just the naughty posters.

Sorry Mandy - I couldn't say without knowing the details.

But I do know that all mods are people of integrity so you may just have been the victim of an accident of timing.

Why can't mods just delete the text of an 'offending' post and replace it with a brief reason why it was deleted? E.g. 'Message deleted - Personal abuse not allowed'.

Like I said earlier, this actually serves as a reminder to all and reinforces particular rules.

Could there be an annual, or bi-annual voting in & out of mods??

How do you become one? What happens if the general consensus is that someone that is perhaps shouldn't be anymore? What if the consensus is that someone should be but isn't?

Just thinking out loud.
