I like Travis Cloke.... Even though he isn't in the best form of his career, I'd love it if he and the club could come to a compromise that would keep him at the club.
The vitriol that has been directed at him by many posters is out if line.
I hope in the next month he shows everyone how good he really is... I think many seem to have forgotten.
Go Clokey!!!!!

For everyone who asks repeatedly " Wow why has this blown up ?? " , the reason is .... We love Travis Cloke !!
Some people can brush it aside and say " if he stays he stays ect..." but some people are more emotional about things and get carried away with the love/hate thing . Cloke has become one of those players that you look at like he's part of the family where some others just dont . My 8 year old daughter had a visit from Collingwood at the Royal Childrens hospital late last year and she loved Travis and we all seemed to be able to feel easy around him if that makes sense ? So naturally we have a soft spot for him .
He will make the RIGHT decision I believe!!

It does seem strange that supporters are bagging a pie player for apparantly failing to be loyal to the club... while they continue to bag him out?
I am upset his form is below par - but I am a supporter of Cloke and all the guys who run out wearing the black and white... c'mon Magpie Army lets support the guy that is a key cog to our team winning a flag this year!

Love us or Hate us... we are Collingwood - you can't ignore the Mighty Magpies!!!
I must be the only Nickster who had not seen the Hun article today. I only became aware of it watching Footy 360 tonight.
To all the Cloke apologists, you had better wake up fast because he is now finished as a Collingwood player. Some might say that Cloke said nothing bad in the article and even said he wanted to stay at Colllingwood. You miss the point.
When Collingwood broke off the negotiations, after Cloke rejected their offer of $800,000 pa over 4 years, and $800,000 in the 5th year, subject to performance indicators, both sides agreed not to discuss the contract with the media. Collingwood has kept its side of the bargain, but now Cloke has gone public...again...after being told not to. This is the second time he has gone out of his way to self promote and discuss his contract negotiations when advised by the club not to do so. He did not seek clearance from the club to do the interview, as is the normal required practice. Furthermore, he appeared without a club uniform or top, which is contrary to club protocols. But worse still, he lied when he said that his dispute with Collingwood was not over money!! And if that's not all, he was apparently content to say that he's doing his job on the field!!!!!
FFS, this guy is either completely delusional, a h*#fwit, or else he is deliberately trying to unravel our finals campaign. I've said previously that Cloke should be dropped from the team and shown the door. I know this won't happen this close to the finals. However, I implore the club to make a bold statement - like they did with Swanny - and drop Cloke to the VFL this week. He should only come back into our side against the bombers if he is prepared to apologise to his teammates for drawing media attention to himself, at the very time we are promoting the one in all in theme to propel us to finals victory.
Sadly, I fear he has fu#ked our flag prospects, but I will not throw in the towel while we are still in the race. Poor Bucks. He looked like he was completely shocked and nonplussed by Cloke's attitude and behaviour.

Never read or saw anything from Cloke that he had agreed not to discuss his situation in public.
The call to suspend talks came from the club who however subtly haven't been entirely silent on the matter.
Geoff Walsh has had a crack with nearly every signing the club has made since the talks were suspended.

I have seen it. And I stick by my opinion of it.Nash Rising wrote:No, I don't think you have seen it yet.
Someone else gave you their view of it and you are just repeating their words.
Please, go and watch it
Many of my work colleagues, family and friends have also seen it, and we have the same opinion of it. It was cynical, and it's only purpose was to paint Cloke as the victim.

How do you know this agreement was made?RudeBoy wrote:When Collingwood broke off the negotiations, after Cloke rejected their offer of $800,000 pa over 4 years, and $800,000 in the 5th year, subject to performance indicators, both sides agreed not to discuss the contract with the media.
you know they didn't ask for permission how? Didn't hide it very well either, looks like Bobby Rose was looking right at themRudeBoy wrote:Collingwood has kept its side of the bargain, but now Cloke has gone public...again...after being told not to. Dramatic? That's putting it lightly. Very strong statements based on very little. Also, that 5th performance based year was not mentioned in the article and as far as I know has been confirmed by no one.tomaraya wrote:Dramatic much.RudeBoy wrote:I must be the only Nickster who had not seen the Hun article today. Rudeboy, for a normally reasonable poster, you've really gone off the deep end on this one. Maybe you're seeing something that I'm missing, I guess time will tell. For me though, whether Cloke's leaving or staying, I simply don't see an issue that had to affect the club in any way.
There has been mishandling on the club's part that's made it more of an issue than it needed to be, but I still don't think there's been any significant affect, except maybe on Cloke's personal form.
Well done boys!

The lengths people will go to to convince themselves and others that they're not really flipping a coin. Tiring.
In the end the rain comes down, washes clean the streets of a blue sky town.

If he goes, he goes. I can't really give a crap, to be honest.
Wait. Yes, I love Cloke. I want to keep him at Collingwood. I think he's a Rolls Royce, and I don't criticize him for his drop-off in form.
But we won a flag. We have a sensational list. The squeeze is inevitable. If it comes down to a choice between losing Cloke, or losing, say, Sidey and Beams... I dunno which I'd pick. Re-signing Cloke will probably force other players out.
I also look at it from my own perspective: I like my job, I like the team I work with. But offer me an extra $200k a year and the front door would be flapping in the wind before my resignation email chimed in the boss' inbox. I can't begrudge anyone who would do the same.
Then there's free agency: some of the effects will be good for Collingwood, some bad. In this case, it's a bad thing.
Fortunately, we are Collingwood. Free agency is going to help us more than it hinders us. Who knows who might have come to the club, had free agency been implemented ten years ago? Chris Judd and Nick Stevens, almost certainly. If we lose Cloke, we target the club he's gone to, determine which players are free agents in the coming years, and marauder their list without mercy. We'll win.

If what you say is correct about an agreement not to talk about this in the media; both Walsh and Bucks have continued to talk about it in the media.RudeBoy wrote:I must be the only Nickster who had not seen the Hun article today. I only became aware of it watching Footy 360 tonight.

The rest of what you say is just ranting and venting and not worthy of a response
