^^Depends for mine. If it was an incredibly crucial game, I'd want Ball. Doesn't get a massive amount of the ball, but at least makes good decisions when he does. Adams actively hurts us, not just passively. Still, I'd not be overly upset if we did go with Adams, he's got to start feeling more comfortable at some stage.
I think the loss of Beams and Sidebottom just helped to accentuate the shortcomings of Ball, Adams and Thomas. They are not terrible players, but they are players suited to one role, and ideally only one of them should be playing.

And that was the i guess the ironical thing today; had he farmed out that last handball to a teammate for a goal, instead of releasing it back into space for Footscray to run onto and bury us, then he would have effectively been the match winner? But yes, i did my f*cking block with Adam's ineptitude under pressure in those dying minutes, and the coaching staff can wear some of the blame for the loss as well, as they are starting to get on my f*cking nerves too.AN_Inkling wrote:I'm not blaming Adams for the loss, though he did cost us a chance to win it...

Posted in the other thread before I saw this one. The title of this one is far more appropriate!!

One particular piece of play summed up those 2 areas of his game at once today - coming out of defence in the third quarter he tried to kick a worm burner to a leading Witts which had very little margin for error, instead of floating it out in front for the big man to run on to; turnover, goal.
I'd prefer a guy like that to work with though, one who is hard at the ball but has some deficiencies with his skills - over a silky long kick who is scared of his own shadow.
You can teach a guy how and where to kick, you can't teach courage and ball winning ability.
It's a catch 22 as to his place in the side based on today.
He was great in and under, but definitely hurt us with some of his disposal.
Personally, I can't see all 3 of Adams, Thomas, Ball in the same side from here on in. Adams is in third place right now.

Yep, same for Johnno and Presti... Haters will hate...Mugwump wrote:Already posted several times elsewhere. I recall the Toovey haters - the pack moves on. The game was lost today because the midfield was outplayed and the Maxwell-less defence was like a headless chicken under pressure. Adams disposal amd composure under pressure is a problem ; but I think it's a maturity thing. What he needs is confidence, not abuse. He'll be a 100+ player, in the end.
Kids still got work to do but was much better today than his previous game. If he continues to improve his game he'll do okay.

Re: Taylor Adams will be alright
2nd That. Had his Best game at AFL Level tonight.Damien wrote:Can't believe the attack threads on this kid. Post here if you want to show him some support.
Yes his Disposal is not fantastic.
But had 30 Touches, 7 Tackles, Kicked a Goal.
One of a Few who Tried to get the Ball and Tried his heart out.
Great Effort from the Kid

I know a bloke who's a professional Daredevil but is scared witless of spiders.Dave The Man wrote:Are you Stupid?delcorp wrote:He is scared!
He had 21 Contested Possesions. That is Massive
Adams was fearless in his attack on the ball, once he had it though he was very hesitant, and at a few key moments in that last quarter almost froze, not knowing what to do.
He was better at getting the ball than his last game, but his use of the ball and decision making was even worse than his previous game. These are areas he can improve, it's just a question of whether he can be trusted as our number 1 extractor at this stage or not.
Well done boys!

Adams does offer way more then BlairHarvey wrote:Actually thought this was his best game for the club. Showed that he is actually a genuine tough inside mid that can win contested possessions and clearances. At least he is high production. His disposal was actually ok up until the last quarter.
Most of our players had terrible clangers tonight but his stands out the most cause we're actively looking for it. His disposal is improving and I'd much rather have him in the team than Blair ("I don't know where the footy is but I can follow a player and tackle them in a pack")

His Disposal was Imporvment to when we played the Saints There. Give him time at AFL Level and Things should Improve.Mugwump wrote:Spirited defence, and I'm in sympathy with the point ; but there is no denying that his disposal, right now, is a major knock on his game. It seesm to be a composure thing. The good news is that this generally improves with games and the confidence and security they bring. Sinclair and Toovey have both had the same blowtorch, and both improved to be good players. Adams will get there eventually, though I can't see him as being in the best today.Wokko wrote:BEST
Collingwood: Elliott, Pendlebury, Cloke, Adams, Dwyer, Lumumba
Named in the best, 30 touches, what the hell is wrong with you people? He's an inside midfielder so the possessions he gets are under pressure which is why he had SEVEN clearances, SEVEN tackles and FOUR inside 50s. He was great today but butchered it a bit late when he would've been out on his feet. It's like people watch the game without knowing anything about it at all.
His disposal efficiency was only 57%, but not that much worse than players who got a lot less of the ball. Blair was woeful, and I could understand people going nuts over his performance, but because he barely touched it you don't even notice. Blair had 29% disposal efficiency from 7 touches.
Seriously, if you're bagging Adams and blaming him for the loss then turn over to the soccer and **** off from following AFL because you have no damn clue.
You know he is going to give 100% for Collingwood

So we had too many of the In and Under Mids and Not enough Runners like Beams and Steele?AN_Inkling wrote:^^Depends for mine. If it was an incredibly crucial game, I'd want Ball.
