TV Games for 2014

Post by MagpieBat »

The first 5 ABC TV games for 2014 have been added to the fixture:

Round 15 March 29 Williamstown vs Box Hill
Round 1 April 5 Frankston vs Sandringham
Round 2 April 12 Essendon vs North Ballarat
Round 3 April 19 Richmond vs Williamstown
Round 4 April 26 Essendon vs Collingwood

We get one game in the first month. Not too bad, though I would have thought the round 2 clash against Port Melbourne would have been a better fixture, a re-match of the elimination final. But one is grateful for what one receives nonetheless.

In the plus column, both Pies games will be televised over the ANZAC Day long weekend! :D

As an aside, the reason the Willy vs Box Hill game is listed as a Round 15 game is because that's exactly what it is. The round 15 fixture between these two sides is being played on the first week of round 1 (a spilt round in itself), I presume because of the Foxtel Cup...

As it happens, it turns out to have been a good thing that the Port game wasn't televised. Having witnessed the first part of it, I can't help thinking it might have been better if it had been played in a closed stadium.

Don't know about that DTM.

You'd think they'd try to broadcast as many Collingwood games as possible.

I enjoy seeing the other teams, but yeah it'd be nice if we had at least one more game coming up.

The TV games for rounds 12-16 have been released...

Round 12 Frankston vs Essendon
Round 13 Sandringham vs Port Melbourne
Round 14 Footscray vs Box Hill Hawks
Round 15 North Ballarat vs Bendigo
Round 16 Richmond vs Port Melbourne

So, by my count, that's...

5 - Port Melbourne

3 - Box Hill, Sandringham, Footscray,

2 - Williamstown, Essendon, Frankston, North Ballarat, Richmond, Geelong, Werribee

1 - Casey, Northern Blues, Bendigo, Coburg, Collingwood

No doubt we'll be seeing another 3 or 4 TV games with Port Melbourne in them in the final 4 rounds of the season...

We've got a couple of 1:00pm games in the last few rounds so hopefully that'll equate to TV games.

The final 4 TV games for the home and away season have been announced...

Round 17 Essendon vs Williamstown

Round 18 Collingwood vs Essendon

Round 19 Werribee vs Sandringham

Round 20 Box Hill Hawks vs Northern Blues

So, by my updated count, that brings the final count of TV games in 2014 to...

5 - Port Melbourne

4 - Essendon, Box Hill, Sandringham

3 - Footscray, Williamstown, Werribee

2 - Frankston, North Ballarat, Richmond, Geelong, Collingwood, Northern Blues

1 - Casey, Bendigo, Coburg

Clearly, Port Melbourne and Essendon didn't get enough love...
