Yea I can't understand the negativity in this thread. Adams is an in and under player just starting out his career. At this point in his career he's going along just fine. People should be reserving judgement until he's played at least 50 games.
Adams was good today. I liked what I saw in his attack on the ball. I still have doubts on his kicking ability but that is something he definitely can improve. He will be very good in the long run.
Wins the hard ball as well as anyone in our team. That's all I ask from our number one extractor. Quality ball use is optional. Yes, Adams's kicking is still not great, but in the position he plays this is not a fatal flaw. He's an AFL standard player and a darn good one.
Its not just his kicking, his whole disposal overall is very iffy, especially when he has some time to think about it.
Not as good of game as last weeks but he might end up somewhere near O'Bree's standing in the game after all.
Adams is going to be a very good player for us in the future. He's still very young and has plenty of improvement left in him. He's a ball magnet and his disposal will improve as he continues playing more and getting games under his belt. The fact that he's identified his kicking as being a slight weakness of his game is a great sign that he's going to do everything he can to rectify that problem.
I'm staggered that so many people wrote the guy off earlier in the year. In the long run this will be a clear win for us trade wise as opposed to the Giants obtaining Heath Shaw.
could you ask for a better attitude. never understood the criticism on this board of this guy. Have posted many times that he plays the game exactly the way everyone wants Collingwood players to play.
Terrific game tonight!
Agree that Ball's absence has allowed him to play the role that he is well suited to (and that until Ball left, he was finding it hard to find his role - given that Ball was playing it).
Next to Beams, Pendles and Macaffer, our centre set up looks pretty complete for years to come.
There's a lot of good and bad about Taylor Adams, but he will keep on improving and prove himself. Just going to need patience, as long as he learns from his mistakes then it's all good.
