Pardon me for having an opinion. At least I'm trying to find a way for us to convert some opportunities.

Stupid me. I'll shut up now...
and you were on the money. we tried all sorts of options. riddle ended up in the forward line too.
Thought I saw Nick there in the last. Was wondering if maybe I was mis-seeing things, given he's a specialist backman.

I know it's probably sounding wise after the event, but perhaps it might have been a good idea to play Cathal Corr who, while undersized for a full forward, can at least take a grab...

Couch was sent to full forward because he wasn't 100% with that calf, I take it?

couch was fine. started forward and then ran through midfield. moved back forward to try to give us drive. hellier and suckling were sent down back.

we missed cal matheson. also, some of development squad guys came into the team. they tried their best but it is another step up for them. chirs gleeson, jack blair, ned mckeown. thought jack blair went well.

Perfect weather, great to be able to rock up and sit wherever you want.
Pity about the result.

Sat in the stand just up from the Pies bench and you could see that the boys were trying, as others have said some were out of their depth.

MB, my brother also said that Karnesis should have been moved forward, but would it have changed the result? Maybe not, couldn't buy a goal in the last.

One thing, no matter if they are in green or orange, umps are blind to Pies forwards being held.

It definitely wasn't the only thing that went wrong for us today, and Sandy's pressure was just outstanding, but I do feel that if we had of switched Patty forward, we could have had a few inside 50 marks and shots on goal. Nail a couple of those in the 3rd, give the boys a sniff, who knows what might have happened?

Anyway, what's done is done.

And don't get me started on the maggots...

No reward for effort today.
Can't blame the umps even though they were disgracefully biased all day. just listening to them at boundary throw ins was disgusting.

"Don't hold Collingwood" "Give a metre Collingwood" "blaf blah f****ng blah Collingwood"

Sandy could do no wrong.

It was tough contested finals footy.

Great efforts today from all the lads. No special mentions. Blood spilt and they all left everything on the park today.

Super crowd too. Started to build something really special at Victoria Park.

Bring on 2015. Onwards and upwards for the Mighties!

Was a Great Effort by the Boys.

Just did not have the Cattle out there we needed.

Injuries really hurt us in the VFL as much as the AFL Side

I can't believe I have read "poor effort" in describing this game.

Disappointing result, yes. We deserved better, yes. Some errors in execution, yes. But there was NO let up in the effort today. Players left everything out there.

Anyone that automatically equates losing with a lack of effort clearly demonstrates they have no idea about competitive sport.

I'm impressed with Riddle every time I see him. Like Langdon. Is there a senior spot for him you think?

it was always going to be a grind. absolutely not for want of trying. in fact perhaps we tried too hard.

You have to have played Dave to truly understand what "trying too hard" can do to a player and especially a team.

Trying too hard makes players tighten up and sometimes focus too hard on the defensive efforts negating their own attacking game. It is, after all, a contest that is won by the team that scores the most.

There was a passage of play yesterday involving Tim Allan that was a case in point. He was in pursuit of a long Sandy bomb into their half forward area and was not showing enough "try" as far as one big mouthed supporter standing right behind bellowed out "Run! Run!" Was his cry of anguish. The ball bounced in it's usual unpredictable way and as everyone else overran it, Tim was on hand to scoop it up and clear. He was under no pressure, read the play....didn't throw himself at the contest but instead he TRIED to control the contest...which he did.

It is so easy for people to take pot shots from the stands....a totally different story out there on the field.
