Pick 5 and Aish would be brilliant for us. Sure losing Beams will hurt in the long-term but we'll get two guns in the making!
Apparently Brisbane are denying it though according to my mate who follows them.

Beams isn't a restricted free agent until the end of 2016 so no first round compo next year. Bris will still have to deal with us next year if they want to facilitate a trade without any problems. If not, the only way Beams can get to Bris is if he goes into the draft and they pick him up, of course leaving the window wide open for other clubs to pounce if they dare.
Beams senior ain't going anywhere too soon if he has "beaten the prick of a disease" as Dayne put it himself.

Gee Wiz, I'd prefer Redden as he's been in the system for 5 years or so, but if Aish is the one, then so-be-it. The Brions now have the best midfield in the comp. Rocky, Redden, Beamer, Rich, Zorko, Lewis Taylor..............
Then trade pick 5 and Aish and a bag of pine cones to Adelaide for Dangerfield!!!!!!! and wangle some deal with Keeffe to QLD and some other sweetener to Adelaide to help with the Dangerfield trade. If the Brions let merrett go, Keeffe could be in the frame. Perhaps pick 5, 25, and Redden.........for Beamer and Keeffe?
Go the Pies!

I'd have thought if Beams contract ends next year and he doesn't sign a new one, he can leave via the draft similar to Luke Ball. In which case, I'd almost guess Brisbane will get him for a late R1 or even an early R2.
Luke Ball moved and pretty much told every other club to piss off. Beams will do the same.

I'm glad that the club has rejected picks 5 and 25 for Beams. That's an insult especially if GWS trades picks 4 and 7 (assuming Carlton trade that their pick to them) for Griffen.
Pick 5 and Aish will be adequate and fair in my opinion. Whether Brisbane agrees remains to be seen.

I believe that this is a fair trade. I said that three days ago. Aish hasn't shown yet whether he is the next Beams or the next Josh Thomas (no offense to you Josh). At least this way, we get a player who has shown a bit and is a year closer to playing consistent footy, PLUS we get a shot at another possible great player at 5.thebaldfacts wrote:Pick 5 plus Aish to be announced tomorrow according to a Fine on SEN.
Only thing is, both of these players are three years away.

It happened with Callan Ward in his final game for the Bulldogs back in 2011.swoop42 wrote:If we retain Beams and he doesn't recommit during the year we face the real possibility of one of our own being booed by us come the end of the season.
That would make for interesting viewing.
Doubt that has happened before.

Beams is not Ball. Much less likely that all other clubs allow an A-grader in his prime to slip to Brisbane. It would be a real risk and that's exactly why it very rarely happens and there would almost certainly be a trade.Brenny wrote:I'd have thought if Beams contract ends next year and he doesn't sign a new one, he can leave via the draft similar to Luke Ball. I doubt he plays for us next year anyway and don't want him to. He'll go somewhere, it just may not be his first choice if the Lions don't make more realistic offers.
Well done boys!
