The "What do we get for Beams?" thread
Moderator: bbmods
While we all hope for pick 5 and Aish if Brisbane come back today with a revised offer of 5, 21 and 25 should we accept that and get concentrating on other trade options or reject it and go looking for a better deal that may or may not come?
Picks 5,21 and 25 should essentially end up meaning 5, 21 and Greenwood.
While not as good it's comparable to the Judd deal of 3, 20 and a young Josh Kennedy.
It's a difficult one.
If we have pick 5 as well as 21 up our sleeve we would have more options available to us to when looking to other possible trades or an extra top 25 pick on draft day.
For instance if Hine didn't see much of a gap between 5 and 15 could we look to pass on pick 5 to the Gold Coast in return for pick 15 and someone like Lonergan to add some midfield grunt?
Alternatively we might trade pick 5 to the kangaroos in exchange for Greenwood and pick 16 meaning we would retain 3 selections within the first 25 (not including Moore).
At the end of the day if Brisbane aren't willing to add pick 21 into the mix then reject the offer pies.
Stuff em.

5 and Aish is fair, and is what we have been asking for all along.
If this happened it's a win for us on many fronts.
Aish is like Bucks 2.0 - SANFL glory followed by a 'gap year' QLD holiday, followed by a long and distinguished career at Collingwood.
Hopefully he doesn't have to wait till he takes over as coach for a flag though
Brisbane are going to end up looking stupid.
Love it.

The AFLPA is pushing for RFA to be effective at 7 years, could come into effect in 2015 so a compo pick may well be on the cards... unless the AFL abolish compo picks...Az wrote:Beams isn't a restricted free agent until the end of 2016 so no first round compo next year. Bris will still have to deal with us next year if they want to facilitate a trade without any problems. If not, the only way Beams can get to Bris is if he goes into the draft and they pick him up, of course leaving the window wide open for other clubs to pounce if they dare.
Beams senior ain't going anywhere too soon if he has "beaten the prick of a disease" as Dayne put it himself.

They will only look stupid because they chose to open their mouths and talk tough in the first place, all they needed to say was we will work hard with Collingwood to facilitate a for Dayne Beams....simple easy, leave your bridges unburnt....Breadcrawl wrote:5 and Aish is fair, and is what we have been asking for all along.

I don't see it happening, they lose to much face if they fold now, Swann, Leppa, Warren, have all stupidly opened their mouths.
5 and Aish is still slightly unders.....
Langdons year was as good as his and we definitely wouldn't be looking to trade him but if a gun came up i'm pretty sure we wouldn't be ruling it out.

How is his last tweet, very cocky. If we roll over and accept their deal I'll dead set be filthy. Pick 5 and a player nothing else.AN_Inkling wrote:Brisbane still saying they won't trade any young players. Well Leppa is anyway:
