Wow.
We on the other hand get......oh what the hell, I'm tired, we've been viciously raped and some people on here can't feel it.

Yea I would say Dogs have definitely overpaid here. Trading your best player and captain for essentially a 5 pick upgrade. PLUS committing $6-7m over 7 years for a 9 gamer who could be Riewoldt or could be Gumbleton PLUS paying some of Giffen's salary.
It would be like us trading a 28 year old Swan plus our first round pick for last years pick 1. No way would we do that.

My bad, I also heard what contract they've offered.jackcass wrote:Actually, Doggies get last years No1 for a 28 year old AND pick 6.themonk wrote:Doggies get pick 6 and last years pick 1 for a 28 year old.swoop42 wrote:The Boyd, Griffen trade is complete.

At approx. $900k a year the Dogs are saying that this kid is worth the same as a Swan or Pendles?? Even Beam isn't (reportedly) getting that much from the Brisvegas deal.
If I was Doggies supporter, I would be expecting big games from this kid every week to justify that sort of money. No time to settle in sunshine, earn your money from the get go.

GWS could very well be looking to swap two of those picks for pick 1.jackcass wrote:Gives GWS 4,6,7,24,40 in the coming draft.
Would 6 or 7 & 24 be a worthwhile trade for 5 & 30?
Pick 4 and 5 would look better to St.Kilda than 4 and 6.
Get involved pies.
Pies 5 and 30 for GWS 6 and 24.
GWS send 4 and 5 to the saints for pick 1.
GWS retain pick 7.

I doubt GWS would give up all 3 picks for pick 1.Domesticated_Ape wrote:I'd want 4 and 40 more than 6 and 24.swoop42 wrote:GWS could very well be looking to swap two of those picks for pick 1.jackcass wrote:Gives GWS 4,6,7,24,40 in the coming draft.

St.kilda would then want the lowest GWS pick in any trade scenario IMO.
Moving back one place within the top 10 is worth moving up 6 places and getting inside the top 25 for us IMO.

Maybe with pick 21 also going back to the Giants? The Saints would prefer 5, 6 and 7 than 4, 5 and 21.swoop42 wrote:I doubt GWS would give up all 3 picks for pick 1.Domesticated_Ape wrote:I'd want 4 and 40 more than 6 and 24.swoop42 wrote: GWS could very well be looking to swap two of those picks for pick 1.

Either deal is good for us though.
With us getting Moore starting to feel that the club would overlook Wright even if we got pick 4 or he was available at 5.
Brayshaw could be there at 4 assuming whoever had pick 1 went for a tall.
Melbourne wont overlook him unless Petracca is also available even then they might just go for two midfielders.
Still how much better a midfielder is Brayshaw compared to someone like Ahern that we'd be prepared to drop from 30 to 40 and give up the chance at 24?

I don't think the tops picks are as set as some people would like to believe. I still see Petracca, Brayshaw, McCartin and Wright as the top 4, but I reckon it could go in any order now and maybe someone from outside that group could push up.swoop42 wrote:With us getting Moore starting to feel that the club would overlook Wright even if we got pick 4 or he was available at 5.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Melbourne take a tall and a mid at 2 and 3 and if St.Kilda keep pick 1 they could go tall as well. Some chance that Petracca is still there at 4 and he's what I really want.
I think Brayshaw is worth the downgrade compared to Ahern. The difference between 30 and 40 wont be as much as the difference between the top two mids and the next group IMO.
And I'm not convinced that Hine would pass on a Wright/McCartin if they were available. He took Reid and Brown in the top ten together.
Listening to Hine today sounds more like we are after a midfielder or tall flanker type.
We only get pick 4 if GWS get 1 and while Boyd is gone now I still think they'll go Petracca at 1, the player they were looking to upgrade for in the first place.
With that I think we'll see Melbourne swoop on Brayshaw and one of McCartin or Wright. Most likely McCartin.
Personally I'm starting to go a little cold now on Wright given he may well end up being better suited to the ruck other than a forward at AFL level.
It would be different if we weren't getting Moore but we are thankfully and with two young rucks also don't think he's the best fit for our list in the hear and now. His biggest upside is probably that he'll hold his trade value and like Boyd could be "traded" in for someone like Collingwood fan Petracca in 2 years time. Hell perhaps even one. LOL.
McCartin offers something different to Moore and our two young rucks so he could be of interest to us and Brayshaw/Petracca certainly would but I just keep coming back to the feeling it will be Wright as the one to still be there at 4 so I'm not so certain giving up the chance of pick 24 in place of 40 (your proposed deal) is worth it for the most likely outcome of Wright.
Anyway leave it to the man who knows best to decide.

GWS are a strong chance to take a tall at either 4 or 1 now that they've lost Boyd I think. Getting pick 1 means they get to choose between Wright and McCartin. Holding pick 4 means there's a chance they might miss out on both.swoop42 wrote:Listening to Hine today sounds more like we are after a midfielder or tall flanker type.

As for Petracca. He'll be paying as close attention to the trading of these top picks as we are. He will know Collingwood has pick 5 by now, if we get pick 4, then that's only two club interviews he has to tank to get to us. If we hold pick 5, he might not have the nerve to do it, though if you're going to piss off 3 AFL clubs, St.Kilda, Melbourne and GWS are pretty good choices.
Hine will know best, but I wouldn't be putting too much stock into what he says to the media right now. If Wright is there at 5 with Leverde going at 4, then I expect we'd take the big guy.
