Disappointing from young Taylor, especially coming as it does after his spectacular efforts in training and his publicly expressed determination to cement a position in our midfield, of which I am sure that he is eminently capable.
This will be a humiliation for him, but (as far as I can tell from the media reports) an incident that will have no further ramifications than teaching him an enormously helpful lesson.
Hoping that he learns from this, and that it steels his determination and sense of pride much further. Sometimes, a wake up call like this can have a very positive effect.

And.... That said Carlton midfielder happened to be walking out of the same cubicle as another prominent blues midfielder at a popular prahran nightclub....

Hows that for culture??

Bonding i guess. Makes me sad.. *sniff sniff*

Mercenary scumbags that play for Carlton can be silent until they retire and make some kind of mitigating comment.

I know, right? And in January, too.

Most of the people complaining about this have probably turned up to work semi-hungover before. Taylor's having a drink a full nine weeks before our first game. I think he'll have recovered by then.

Me? Perhaps. But I'm not sure whether either of us would be able to quantify the exact negative long-term impacts on footballing ability of one night on the turps (or five, or fifty).

On the other hand, living like a monk may have negative psychological impacts which may translate to lower onfield performance. But god, they're human beings, not machines. So what that they're not at absolutely 100% of their physical capabilities; does it even matter?

I think the club (and especially the average supporter) needs to cut players a little slack. We don't shake our fingers at them if they have a hamburger one night instead of kale & quinoa salad, so let's stop getting holier than thou on the alcohol and drugs too.

There is also a negative psychological impact if someone can't get away from a stressful and intense environment of professional sport. Sure, I'd prefer that our players wind down with a nice game of chess and a cup of tea, but if getting on the piss at a seedy Geelong nightclub is Taylor's bag then I'd prefer it happen in the offseason than any other time of the year.

If he fronts up for training and gives his all and is off the booze the rest of the year, then frankly I don't give a shit. He didn't crash a car, beat anyone up or find himself with a rape accusation so really "Collingwood Player gets drunk" is all they have to work with.

Sad that so called 'supporters' fall for this shit over and over again.

80% of the people coming out that nightclub could be classed as 'drunk in public'

Police must have made a packet in fines last night.
