Not all of us here are complete fascists, you know. My reaction would be exactly the same.Harrysz wrote:The usual apologists are on here defending Taylor Adams. What would they say if it were a Carlton player?
I don't get why an elete sportsman needs to get drunk, anywhere, even at home. What sort of culture creates that?
What he did isn't a hanging offence. It could've been worse. There was no fight. No one got hurt. He wasn't arrested.
But what he did wasn't good for his name or the name of the club that he plays for.

Yep. Force him to stay away from sheep......jackcass wrote:Not really an issue, normal 21 year old behavior. Does have history though so might be time he started to learn from these life lessons. Probably get a nice little fine from the club and some extra punishment on the NZ trip.
Don't confuse your current path with your final destination. Just because it's dark and stormy now doesn't meant that you aren't headed for glorious sunshine!

This is Collingwood mate. Will not ever happen in a month of blue moons.barrybc41 wrote:Was hoping for a season of less injuries and less situations that create uneeded tension
May not get that

Not the end of the world but certainly not the smartest move by Taylor. He needs to make better choices. I do not think having a few drinks is all that bad but drinking to excess when you are a professional athlete in pre-season training sounds pretty silly to me.

Taylor Adams might be one of those guys that always has to learn the hard way. We've been through this often enough with Chris Tarrant, Ben Johnson, Alan Didak and Heath Shaw and I'm sure I've missed a few. Morrison's drunken billy-cart ride is another that springs to mind. It's always a distraction for the club and it never enhances the reputations of the men involved. I don't think any of the above sat in on leadership meetings did they? They pulled their heads in and played in a premiership. Well Tazza didn't and he missed the Premiership and he will regret it forever. I hope some wise heads spell it out to Tay that he will be the loser if he can't learn a little self discipline.
Taylor Adams has been fantastic over the summer and I loved the way he talked himself up as a regular midfielder and as a club leader. But words are cheap aren't they?
That said, I'd be thoroughly gutted if this were Darcy Moore, Sharenberg, Freeman, DeGoey or Goodyear getting pissed and arrested.

After the epic draw comes the decisive knockout!
Collingwood rules the world again and Mick Malthouse fulfils his destiny with the twenty ten premiership and can you hear the people sing!

Apparently he has 2 previous indescretions, I'm not sure what they are though, but it's obviously time for the lad to pull his head in, if he stuffs up again this year he will definately feel the fibre of Eddies fabric.Neil Appleby wrote:Taylor Adams might be one of those guys that always has to learn the hard way. Certainly member
Adams has shown that he shouldn't be considered for a leadership position this year and must make clear to the club he understands he has brought unwanted attention on the club - not purely through his own actions - but those and the always hovering hyenas ready and willing to take advantage of any hint of a misstep.
He needs to understand and show the club that he understands the higher requirements of a leadership aspirant.
However . . .
That being said . . .
He is not the anti christ nor the harbinger of culture dilution some within the club and indeed within these hallowed pages so insidiously claim.
The kid has strong links with sleepy hollow and needs to weaned carefully off them as any junkie would to a harmful substance
Time for the Salvos to take him in hand a show him the dark side of drink and substance addiction at some place like Ozanam house perhaps. If not for his own eduction then at least to placate the hand wringers and trouble making slinkers that inhabit every club.

In the last 2-3 weeks I've been out a lot in many popular places at perth and seen a heap of eagles/dockers off there tits so don't think its something only we do at the pies ;p . Come on long weekend out with mates give em a break. I honestly think the difference is over in perth cops would probably look after afl players drunk n disorderly but over in melbourne they probably look to book em.
