Striving for VFL success?

Post by Presti35 »

I know winning the VFL is not the obligation of this football club.

I know sometimes "playing to win" is not the obligation.

I know that the VFL is used for development, experimenting, etc.

Is it pointless to suggest we look at ex-AFL players to lead or play with this group? I guess it's not such a silly idea after the "success" of having Michael Still in the group.

Can guys like Matt Dea or Zac O'Brien help this group in any way?

Both guys won their reserves best and fairest and if they dont find a new home in the AFL, would these types fit in at Vic Park?

Robert Warnock is another who could assist the VFL. Alex Browne and Elliott Kavanagh could be woth a look too.

What do you guys think? Do we need to look at bolstering the team with one or two AFL experienced players?

Jonathan Simpkin another who could be added to the list. He'd be a sensational pick up.

But again, would the club, and the player, take on a spot knowing that the development of the first and second year players comes first?

without doubt, the team plays to win all games. we all accept the vfl team has a specific purpose to serve in terms of the afl team and sometimes it is to the detriment of winning. we've built a 2016 vfl list that is as strong as any since we've been stand alone

We should be striving to put together a strong VFL list to support the AFL boys.

Geelong and Hawthorn both have had extended success at VFL level during the period of premiership contention in the AFL so there is a correlation between the two that extends beyond just the playing list of the AFL side IMO.
