Eddie needs to <snip> or step down as president as he is embarrassing the Club.
The same can be said about you being a pies supporter

Sack Maguire

Post by Leave it, It's Billy E's »

Disgusting comments about another person...
I do not have much regard for Caro's work...
But...
Maguire needs to go.
This is the worst example from a so called leader ever.
How can he look his wife, mother, sisters and kids in the eye after that?
Horrible violent words that make it seem OK to do what he said.
Weasel words to follow from a coward called Maguire..
Resign now you failure of a leader...

There a such a loose amount of attitude for violence against Women...
Zero tolerance
He has to either do a course publicly or go...
Otherwise in my eyes he is a leader of our club the condones violence against Women...
If anyone can highlight a similar case in the media against another journo then step forward

Ridiculous overreaction from the humourless few that somehow feel empowered by their own empty outrage.

The comments were a joke. Quite a funny one at that.

It is an insult to the actual victims of violence that people are more outraged by this than they are by a woman being beaten with an iron bar during a robbery.

Yet the headlines tomorrow will be all about a harmless joke told on radio. The discussion at workplaces tomorrow will be about a joke told on radio. Columnists will fill pages, talk-back will be inundated with outrage, outrage so deeply and sincerely held that will be gone by the afternoon. All of it impotent, pointless and counter productive.

And why? Because the joke was told by celebrities.

Be angry if it makes you feel better, but don't kid yourself that your attitude does anything to end violence against women. You're just creating victims where there are none, and leaving the real victims to their own devices.

Hit the nail on the head. Good to see the perpetually outraged out in force. I think it's time to get off this planet as the idiots have taken over.

Personally that kind of blokey humour shown in the transcript leaves me cold. But it was clearly meant as a joke against someone who has often expressed a negative view of McGuire, and it was not condoning violence against women - it was joking about drowning one particular woman, rather as either gender might joke about drowning an ex-spouse. Slightly poor taste ? Yeah, I guess so - but hardly malicious.

We mostly stopped being religious years ago but the need of the pursed-lips brigade to parade their virtue by acucusing others of blasphemy is as strong as ever.

So true. Oh the outrage. If you are not outraged you are for violence against women or likely to be violent yourself. Will these celebrities receive IVOS? If they did they would have no hope of defending against them. Violence, violence, violence. See it's everywhere and we should be outraged and make a stand and this should be in the Magistrates Court. Maybe even call the police and serve the summons live on TV.

And why? Because the joke was told by celebrities.

If it had of been "Robbo" instead of "Carro" no one would have batted an eye lid. The trouble is "Carro" is female so that makes it not PC. Ed should know better and I see it was banter between blokes and that banter cannot be done in public or on air. It has to be done in one's man cave.

He will cop it and keep the Pies in the headlines for another week until someone from the NRL pretends to bang a cat or something. :P

I always suspected McGuire's run at the Pies would end badly, and that he would turn into our version of Jack Elliott.

He has spent lots of time lately extracting his foot from his mouth.

This.

And also Mugwamps post. Pretty tasteless conversation! Man he sure knows how to find trouble! It does stop the 'sack Buckley' headlines for a week though! Maybe he planned it!

I love Eddie, but yeah, I wish he would pull his head in sometimes. He certainly has the Aussie Larriken run of the mouth, go too far thing going, but that's also what makes him likeable, the down to earth one of us thing. If you've ever run into him and had a quick chat, he is very approachable. Unlike a lot of celebrities.

As a Collingwood supporter, I understand this, as a woman, it doesn't offend me, probably taken a little far, not good on prime time!

Hopefully She fronts up to do it next year, and has it over Eddie! By the way, for anyone who's actually done something like this, the stay under isn't necessarily drown! It actually hurts your head if there's enough ice! I've done this four times in mud runs, the last one was freezing water and heaps of ice, it was really painful! I highly recommend it! Especially if the have the electric shock barn straight after it!

Go Pies, and Go Eddie!
You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either!
