I would have to say that when reviewing this on social media currently the vast majority of comments hold the opinion that this is a complete beat up that was orchestrated by a hypocritical Caro.

Unfortunately it would seem that Eddie is pessed off with the whole process and I am sure he is now asking himself "Why bother?"

If he does drop out sooner rater than later he will leave a massive vacuum not only at Collingwood but in other areas. It is estimated that over the last 10 years he has influenced charity donations to the tune of $300 million.

Eddie might get a bit ahead of himself from time to time but he is a very hard act to follow contrary to the opinions of some Nicksters.

Most people seemed to have more issues with the holding her head under and drowning her, while only a very few made any reference to the black widow. But even so, I think Tony Shaw suggesting her head be held under should have sparked the same reaction.

Though I do believe the black widow remark was wrong, in any context even if it was a joke. There was no real need for it.

I could not make head nor tail what the hell Caro was on about on footy classifieds last night, kept whingeing about something to do with what Leigh Matthews said about it all. She just a pain in the arse now, she just cannot more on.

I got the impression that Leigh was trying to suggest for the most part she got her info from the AFL due to fear, that she is a nice person but as a journo she's ruthless, and vicious. But she is a good writer, she just has a very strong opinion won't back down from it and that people are scared of her writeups.

He didn't exactly say it all, but he was just alluding to that, and Caro was offended that he would suggest she only gets her stories out of fear, but she can take criticism she just doesn't like personal attacks on her, etc.

Basically what I got out of it.

Yes, they should have received the same reaction. Caro should have laughed off all of the comments. She can certainly hand it out but is more than happy to twist any potentially adverse comment to her political advantage. Hypocritical and opportunistic at best.

Unbelievable some of you are still not accepting that what Maguire said was totally wrong, as Eddie, the Club and the Prime Minister has told you.
Doubly unbelievable is that you are blaming Caroline, the victim, for 'not laughing it off'.

Maguire vs Shaw comments argument is totally flawed, Shaw was (accurately) referring what others might like to do whilst Ed was putting up $50k and whipping up his mates for someone to hold her under. Jesus to put them in the same ball park is utterly idiotic.

Caroline did nothing about the comments, though she had heard them, UNTIL it was becoming a national issue.
What is she supposed to do when asked about it?
Not be honest about how it made her feel. Gimme a spell.

If Maguire did this to any of your family loved-ones, how would you feel?

It's not a hanging offence but to equate Shaw or blame Caroline is pathetic.

Oh no the Prime Minister has told us, we should all be good little school children and listen then. Just another opportunistic flog looking for votes.

It's a bit like two boxers having a fight and one complaining about the other girl's uppercut. They both box, in the same weight division, and in the same ring. Caro could have just said when asked "Well you can't hold Ed under, he's like a cane toad, influences the whole state in a negative manner, fat, full of hot air and poison," and that would have been the end of it. Which is what another man might have done.

Equality only works one way.
