- The Magpies and the Roosters have clashed a total of 13 times, but this Sunday's encounter will be the first time Collingwood has battled North Ballarat as a standalone club since Round 18 of 2000 (a Monday night game out at Waverley Park). It will also be the first time such a matchup has taken place at Eureka Stadium.
- And speaking of the venue, Collingwood have never won a game at Eureka Stadium. In all three of their attempts to conquer the Northern Oval the VFL Magpies have suffered defeats, by margins 68 points, 5 points and 35 points respectively (for an average losing margin of 36 points). But bucket lists are made to be checked off...

^^^ gee, 4 players off that bench have to miss out. Excluding Lane as the 23rd I could make a really strong case for at least 6 of them and put a pretty solid argument for the other 2. And that's without Moloney, Still or Close or my favourite Viola even being in the picture.
EDIT: or Greenwood and Cox playing at either level.

From that bench, I'd be picking Hellier, Kelly, Howe and Smith, with Lane of course as 23rd man.jackcass wrote:^^^ gee, 4 players off that bench have to miss out. And, it merits mention, North Ballarat...
North Ballarat
B 27. K Mellington 20. R Marshall 2. T Lockyer
HB 24. B Simpson 26. A Boseley 25. M Rodd
C 11. M Austin 30. B Edwards 36. C Perry
HF 5. J Keeble 10. S Hooper 16. L Cassidy
F 34. O Tate 18. O Stephenson 22. T Templeton
R 31. M Eagles 9. L George 7. L Kiel
Int 13. T Taurau 33. M Johnston 4. C Schache 19. D Cox 39. J Lukich 29. A Cleary 3. N Rippon 17. J Webster 43. J Werts
Orren Stephenson back into their side, after not having played for a month, in what will be game 175 and with it VFL life membership.
No Andrew Hooper for the Roosters this week, currently out with a knee injury, so he won't be there to kick cheap arse goals out the back with no one near him like he did last time when they ran us down.
And it seems Tarks has taken the concept of equalisation to heart, by running out for the home team in a back pocket. His concern for the state of the competition is admirable...

We've put in a good side for VFL level.
The half back line is exceptional.
We need (and should) come out of this with a huge % boost.
Looking forward to see what Crocker and Phillips can do after their AFL debuts. Im hoping for a really good responce from both.
Witts needs to dominate too. Especially since Cox had been rested. I see he is an AFL emergency, but he really needs to put his case forward.

I'd agree but really harsh on Nick Gray, and Collopy hasn't done too much wrong, ditto Hinkley. A senior or rookie listed player or 2 can consider themselves very fortunate.MagpieBat wrote:From that bench, I'd be picking Hellier, Kelly, Howe and Smith, with Lane of course as 23rd man.jackcass wrote:^^^ gee, 4 players off that bench have to miss out. Strong breeze coming from the North, which means it's going across the ground pretty much. And the rain is coming down...
It's almost easier to spot who is NOT in a long-sleever out there for out blokes! At least 10 of ours are going around in sleeves. Just as the Good Lord intended!
All 14 of our AFL listed blokes are out there...
