Expert calls for terror attacks to be treated same way as suicide when it comes to media coverage
What a great Idea  , sweep it under the carpet, pretend it isn't happening every day and getting worse as this scourge of a religion infects the globe.

They already fail to report most terrorist attacks as it is. How many of the following, in the last week alone, have been in the news? 3 or 4?

2016.07.22 Yemen Aden 1 Dead

2016.07.20 Syria Handarat 1 Dead

2016.07.19 Mali Nampala 17 Dead 35 wounded
An al-Qaeda linked group claims an assault on a local security camp that leaves seventeen others dead.
The media encourages terrorism. It's great for ratings, they my as well pay them and give them guns, ammunition and explosives. No actors without an audience. Besides France and Germany, not many would give a toss about the other deaths as it's not in the main stream media.

The idea has merit, but also serious flaws.

There's no doubt the media coverage helps the terrorists stated goal of spreading terror but it also serves to warn people.

While it might deter copycats (and there's no evidence that lack of media discourages suicides considering it's the No.1 cause of death in 15 to 45yr olds) it does also challenge the terrorists to up the ante if they aren't getting publicity for their smaller attacks.

Dangerous gambit.

^ Yes, but if we listed all the crimes committed by non-refugees, it might distract from this thread's purpose of spreading fear and hatred.

Warn the people about what? All the media does is sensationalise what has happened, it has no capacity to warn because it doesn't know what is going to happen.

I think there needs to be a compromise.

The media should continue to report about the incidents so the public are aware and will be vigilant about what's happening around them. However, there is no need to give the perpetrator's name or religion which would remove any motivation of fame or martydom being attached to the action.

Bit of a generalisation don't you think?

You wouldn't like to know if you were female and planning a trip to Paris that there's terrorist attacks happening?
