Yeah, I agree - that was pretty unbelievable wasn't it for Rioli to have so much space!!Mugwump wrote:
Compared to Brown's swat, i'd be more dark on the backman (Maynard, I think) who, left Rioli on his own several times in their F50 for easy marks and goals.
Still, if Ben Crocker (great game by the way young feller!) had managed to get his toe on that soccer goal, we wouldn't even be worrying about it too much. An inch or so was the difference in the end.

Honourable mentions today.
Jesse White seems to have really started to come of age in the second half of this season. His marking was excellent and his conversion good as well. After years of frustration, he seems to have real confidence in himself now and his teammates are clearly growing in their confidence in him as a result.
Young Benny Crocker really announced today that he has it. Strong overhead and quick over the ground, i think he and Fasolo will make a very dangerous forward line combination next year. His emergence this year has been one of the unexpected positives to flow from our injury horrors.
Special mention to Greenwood as well, today. He is becoming a bit of a crumbing specialist, and realiable close to goal under pressure. Several times he took hard hits and he never takes a backward step.
Finally, Jordan DeGoey. I think it is clear that this boy will be (or is now) worth the pick 5 we gave for him. Good with both feet, he's become a real headache up forward for us.
The emergence or improved contribution of these guys made a big difference to the second half of our season, amd turned one of the most horrid first half-years in recent memory into a team that i could feel proud of by Rd23.

he was the lesser of the three evils. bannister and farmer were the ones that personally invited the hawks to a qualifying final.Woods Of Ypres wrote:when i saw we had Razor Ray Chamberlain i knew were were fkd.

I never really get the hate on umpires. They make mistakes, like players.
The worst one - a real howler - was in our favour with about eight mins to go in the last quarter and Blair got a crtiical goal from it. There were others that went each way. I didn't really think they were the difference in the end, at all.

Just count the goals from dubious frees and you will get the answer.Mugwump wrote:I never really get the hate on umpires. They make mistakes, like players.

Marley was just terrible. Bounced the ball and lost it, was just one of his mistakes. Failed to pick up anyone and was wandering around like he thought he was a midfielder. Will not hold his position next year. He hardly managed one proper delivery by foot. I didn't think Brown did enough but Grundy was colossal. Buckley as others have said should have flooded when in front. We lost this games by a point but should have won by 3 or 4 goals. Some more players should consider retirement because the young guys looked great apart from Smith who has to be more consistant. Go Pies in 2017.

bolded part suggests you misunderstand some of what is asked of the role he played.58pie wrote:Marley was just terrible. Bounced the ball and lost it, was just one of his mistakes. whilst marley did have the odd errant kick it's no worse than when sidey gets too cute and fails to kick to a target.
