Dont care if he stays or goes, as long as we use his salary cap room wisely and also dont sacrifice ourselves in the future for salary cap pressure.
With free agency, it's difficult to be wise. There's always other clubs who are more desperate and willing to offer more. You are almost always better to keep the talent you have.
If we lose Cloke, the replacement options are slim. There's really only Tippett and maybe Goddard. We'd have to overpay both to get them. Especially Tippett who'll get offers from his home state from teams with more cap room. That's even assuming that either are on the move.
If Carlton are offering the rumoured 1M per year for 5 years, we simply cannot do that, surely. I am totally against this policy. Rather drop out of contention than sell our souls to the devil.
Let Carlton lose a handful of top players cos Cloke wants almost 20% of the cap.
^^We won't be matching the $1M other teams are offering. Reportedly, the Clokes have asked for 750-800k for 5 years. The club have offered the same money, but only for 4 years.
The teams luring a player will nearly always have to offer more. We'll get Cloke at a discount because he's already here, it's much more cost efficient to hold onto him than try and lure a player from another club.

HE will STAY!
Yes RR, me thinks the boy will stay too, simply because Jon Ralph on SEN today was so absolutely adamant that he will go, and we know how much creedence we can put into SEN loose facts. SEN states somethng as gods truth, and then it all goes pear shaped and they are wrong. I only listen out of morbid curiousity, sorta like how people drive slowly past a car crash.

If this is the case Ink, then for sure I think the 5 year deal is worth considering at that price. I would sign it.
But you know what a friggen head case Cloke is. Who knows what will happen with him over the next 5 years. Lets face it, he is unstable and mentally fragile at best.

THE REAL problem is, and always has been, his crazy besotted father i reckon. Take him out of the picture, and i reckon T rav would have signed by now for sure, his ole man is the villain here. Trav probably really wants to stay, but his old man rules the roost, thinks hes looking after his boys interests, but in reality he isnt. Get the ole man outa the picture, and trav will sign with the Pies in my view.

oh contrare. Boyd is probably their option for two years time, but except for the lack of a decent power forward, they a premiership caliber team. Cloke wont impact how good they are in 2018, but he might make a difference in 2016.
My bet is that if the dogs are publicly stating they aren't interested, its a negotiating ploy to diminish our expectations on what we might get for him.

As always, the trade period will be interesting.
Yeah I reckon he could help their 16 campaign too, I'm sure he's happy to try!
You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either!

I tend to fully agree (and I have always been a Cloke fan). However this part of the reality factor doesn't seem to have reached the negative posters here who blame Buck's for Cloke's demise....
Hey negatives, it is what it is and you seriously need to stop your constant bloody whinging and suck it up.
