Had dinner with a client tonight. Weagles supporter from WA. Can't believe we are looking at Mayne. He has some good AFL contacts and played golf with Mayne's biometrics/kicking coach. Verdict: his kicking cannot be fixed.

Same kicking style that saw him being one of the most accurate goal kickers in the AFL just a couple of seasons ago. He used to basically never miss.
I would suggest his recent accuracy issues are coming from between the ears and hopefully a new start and environment sees him get back to his accurate best.

Fremantle free agent Chris Mayne is not expected to be confirmed as a Collingwood player until later in the week.

The 27-year-old was in Melbourne on Monday to meet with the Magpies and is tipped to sign a four-year deal, which would likely net Fremantle a second-round compensation pick.

I'm not a fan of picking this guy up. But are we forgetting the very first rule of trade week.

1). Always trade with Freo.

Perhaps there is something we don't know.

P.S. I still say don't grab him.

Jimmy Clement and Brodie Holland

Pick 7 (Ben Reid) and the steaknives, Paul Medhurst for Tazza. What a sweet deal that was.

I'm not a Mayne fan either by the way. If we get Mayne why would we keep the Sac. Surely it's the end for him if Mayne comes in.

Mayne will go alright for us. In a shambolic Freo team this year where the ball hardly got forward and where he also spent time running around on the half back line he was still good for around a goal a game. On this year's form, he's a minor upgrade on Blair and if he can recapture his form from earlier years, now that he's out from under Lyon's thumb, he'll make a great addition.

I think he'll surprise a few of you. And speaking of surprises, here's a comparison with someone who changed our perceptions a bit.

So if Mayne plays as badly as he did this year, we can expect the same sort of output that we got from Varcoe the last couple of years and frankly, we need more of what Varcoe brings. If Mayne gets a new lease of life, then....

Not worried at all. We fixed Cloke's kicking and he was a terrible kick.

Welcome to Collingwood, Chris. I think the club sees him as a third tall and hopefully he provides some spark for our forward line.

At 27 years of age, I think he could be a good contributor for us for the next 2 to 3 years at least.

Will surprise many in 2017 - an asset to our forward line - and not travelling crazy miles almost every week of the season. Welcome aboard, Chris.
