Just trying to illustrate my point that Faz, Adams and every other player can be criticised for their performance but we as 'supporters' should do it respectfully and mindful that they are doing their best for our club and that they are human and warrant our respect.

I agree his disposal does, at times, let him down. I think he's improving?Albert Parker wrote:^ I thought Faz was pretty effective yesterday.
Adams has just about been our most consistent player this season. Tries his guts out when the chips have been down. Kicking has been disappointing. As others have identified, he overkicks the ball when trying to execute difficult opportunities. Plenty to work with.
One factor I think the critics are ignoring is that he's almost always under immense pressure, coming off the bottom of the pack with the pill. Half the time he's simply getting boot to ball so he's not pinged for holding it while getting slung across the turf.
He is a go getter, a hard nut and a good leader on the field.
I like him in the mix

It's been proven time and time again that he can't nail that kick, yet here we are.BBHS wrote:He always goes for the most difficult low high-speed pass, while over kicking the ball. Not sure he's got the ability to nail this kick consistently. Should be trying to simplify a tad as those kicks are killing us.
Either Buckley hadn't told him to go for easier kicks, meaning Buckley should be sacked for incompetence or Adams refuses to listen, meaning he needs to be traded.

I'm meant to go on a fishing charter with Taylor and a few of the boys next weekend as part of a sponser package. Just out on the bay in a reasonable size boat...
I'm having second thoughts as he may turn that over.

Bucks, please please do us a favour and teach Tay to keep his right hand on the ball in a nice flowing motion when he's kicking. You coached him as a schoolboy. You must be able to see what is going on.
The term "keeping your hand on the ball" means actually putting slight downward pressure on the ball as your hand is dropping down in a natural movement (think arm action when running). You can do this easier when kicking on an arc (as Bucks used to do), or kicking around the corner because the angle of the footy changes and your hand is placed more on top when guiding it down.
It's all about keeping correct biomechanics. What that means is aligning your action with natural/efficient body movements like walking/running. For eg. to kick more powerfully you need to rotate your hips through, meaning kicking on an arc (Buddy, Bucks, Suckling, Dew). Any kickboxer knows this.
I'm sorry to the folk that don't like technical jargon/analysis or haven't played enough footy to understand the kicking action, but watching Tay kick does my head in. I guess I'm just a fan that appreciates the skills of our game more than others. You can bet your life that if this game was borne in America, the Yanks would be all over the skills aspects of the game way more than we are. Maybe it's the old athletes vs footballers argument. As the game evolves and teams try to extract any small advantage over others, I'm sure the skill level requirement will only get higher.
I understand that a skill that may seem basic to some is actually an ingrained motor skill learnt from a young age, and for a lot of players it's too late to change. I honestly believe that Tay's action can be fixed.
For players like Maine, Crocker, Geeenwood, I have my doubts they can change, although I like how Greenwood swings to his left side instead of the up and under action of the other 2.

This is it for mine.BBHS wrote:He always goes for the most difficult low high-speed pass, while over kicking the ball. Not sure he's got the ability to nail this kick consistently. Should be trying to simplify a tad as those kicks are killing us.
Adams does some great things for the side but needs to know his limitations with his kicking as a few others have touched on.
Apart from his turnovers, one thing from the Melbourne game really upset me. And it wasn't Adams as such I was mad at as this happens far too often in modern footy by many players.
- Late in the game with that pass to De Goey - the ball should never have made its way into his hands in the first place. Was it Howe that had it 65 odd out at CHF?, Adams made the run past to receive the handball; but the direction he was facing/running was diagonally away from goal and only allowed the kick to go to one spot because of no left foot, thus making the next contest really easy to defend. He should never have called for that handball, and/or Howe should never have given it to him in those circumstances.

What might have been if that call for the ball came from Maynard. Sighh
