Interesting that the only brothers mentioned as being pushed out when a younger version came along are the Clokes... I would suggest it was less about a younger brother coming on board and more about them being not good enough. Jason arguably lost us the 2002 Grand Final, but was quickly figured out that if left loose could heavily influence a game, if made accountable, he was next to useless. Cameron was just plain not up to it.

It could be argued that it was because of us selecting those 2 that we got Trav as he was from a very young age regarded as by far the best of the 3 - and that certainly bore out...

I would very strongly suggest that if brothers were good enough to stay on our list, they would.

Letting go of Sav was a mistake, I'll grant that.

35forever wrote:Great news that we've nominated both, but how much more likely does that make it that we'll get them? I'm thinking particularly of Daics. We MUST get this kid. I know Brown looks like a real gun, but Daicos could be a game changer either way.
Anyone old enough to remember how average Gaz was when he started? There was even doubt about whether he'd play, and Nathan actually looked the better for a while. Then Gaz turned a corner and bang! One of the greats! It's not guaranteed of course, but if he succeeds like I think he will with his name it could be the start of a new Collingwood, it's that big!

The flip side could be a Daicos starring for Carlton, Essendon, or (I can't even type it... blue & White hoops, you know).
That would be a morale destroyer. Anyone got 30 years to wait?

And then there's Nick! How often is a younger brother even better!? But Collingwood don't like having brothers in the side for some idiot reason, and they don't like change.

Stupid spellcheck. don't like 'Gaz'
Can you list a brother we've overlooked on anything but ability? Assuming we've had the capacity to get them. I can't think of a 1 of recent times, even reunited 2 of the Morwood brothers, Tony-Ray-Neville, Rhyce-Heath, Jason-Cameron-Travis, Sav-Ant. Or is this just another baseless shot at the club?

From AFL website:

PIES AND TIGERS IN THE THICK OF IT

No bids for Collingwood father-son prospects Josh Daicos and Callum Brown before the Pies' first pick - No.30 overall - so they've snared Sam McLarty from Oakleigh Chargers.

From AFL website:

SON OF A GUN BECOMES A PIE

Collingwood has matched a bid from North Melbourne on Callum Brown - the son of club champion Gavin - at pick 35 overall.

That's one father-son down for the Maggies, with Josh Daicos set to join the club shortly.

From AFL website:

ANOTHER DAICOS AT THE PIES

There we have it, folks. Josh Daicos - the son of club legend Peter - has become a Magpie with pick 57.

Daicos, a small forward like his father, joins fellow father-son recruit Callum Brown in black and white.

It is a beautiful thing. No homesickness, dads to guide them through it, already know the systems, the routine, and are mates. With Moore and McLarty (from Oakleigh) this could be the new rat pack sans the rats.
Annoying opposition supporters since 1967.

Ours is the area around Oakleigh and also around Tennant Creek in the NT.

It reads a bit like a call out for kids/parents/friends to nominate kids so clubs are aware of them. If a kid gets to the TAC system, they'll be identified there, but not necessarily at a junior club.

Apart from the privacy element for the kid, I'm not sure I do understand why it's private.

If they're draftable (as in any good) they'll be playing TAC cup at 17-18 and every scribe worth 5 cents will know they are in our NGA, and be reporting it. Like with IQ.

This response is more interesting than the list. (Who is the NGA team?)
