Pre-Match: Collingwood V Bitchmond - All comments here

Post by Joel »

Well, I know it's early but it is the first game of the season, so I thoghut we could get some discussion going early.

Anyway, Presti is expected to return (at last). However, it looks like we will be short of a few senior blokes, which means we might have to play the yungsters, so the side could look something like this:

B: Johnson, Prestigiacomo, J.Cloke
HB: Cole, Wakelin, Lokan
C: Lonie, Buckley, Licuria
HF: O'Bree, Fraser, Didak
F: L. Davis, Tarrant, McKee
Fo: Richards, Burns, Holland
Int: Nixon, King (or H. Shaw), Walker, C. Cloke

Thanks to labrooy for that lineup

Who thinks we will be able to cover Richmond, especially Nathan Brown, and Richo? Oh, and that begs the question, will Richo even bring his kicking boots to the game? Who do you think will win, and why?

Personally, Pies by 24 points.

BTW, to all those having a drink at a pub before the match, checkout this thread, to find out how to score a free beer or two: http://www.magpies.net/nick/bb/viewtopic.php?t=16049

As much as I hate to say, really big danger game for the Pies.

We have a few key guys missing, a few who have had really limited pre-seasons and not to mention the fact that Richmond has copped an earful from the usual suspects again.

Then again, it is Richmond !!!

Richardson to kick 1.5
Tarrant to dominate (who is going to play on him ???)
Pies by 20.
Daicos....in 200 years time they'll still be wondering how he did it!

Although the official injury list said Presti is available,MM said he will be missing round 1 on SEN last night.
Johnson Wakelin Walker
Nixon J Cloke Cole R Shaw
Didak Buckley Williams
O'Bree Fraser Burns
Tarrant Davis
Richards Licuria Holland

McKee H Shaw King C Cloke
Em. Mullins Kinnear Shackleton

If Prestigiacomo is available he would take CHB,Nixon would go to the bench and King would drop out.
Do not adjust your mind. The fault is in reality.

MY line up for the 26th of March:

B: Wakelin, Presti, R.Shaw
HB: Johnson (On Brown), J.Cloke, Cole
C: Lonie, Buckley, Woewodin
HF: Didak, Fraser, O'Bree
F: C.Cloke, Tarrant, Holland
R: Richards, Licuria, Burns
INTER: McKee (to fill hole at CHB), Swan, McGough, Walker
EMERG: Lokan, King, Davis.

On paper, it's not a bad side and if there was any issue it's leg speed, but Richmond aren't the quickest side in the comp either. Injurys/suspensions pierce holes in the side but if Brown, Richardson & Coghlan are covered then we should see a comfortable Pies victory. Pies by 32 points.

*More indepth preview to come.*

B:Johnson Wakelin Cole
H.B:Lonie J.Cloke Lokan
C:Nixon Buckley Williams
H.F:Didak Fraser Burns
F.F:Davis Tarrant O'bree

Foll:Mckee,Licuria,Holland

Int:Richards,Walker,Swan,C.Cloke

I know i have 3 talls on the bench but Richards & Mckee woulld share the ruck (Fraser C.H.F all game) & Walker would be back-up defender. If Presti plays he would come in for Walker. But with Richardson,Ottens,Hall,Stafford & Marsh we might need Walker as well

I'd like to see Heath Shaw get a go if we are looking, or have to play some young players. Impressed me in the practice matches I saw, hard at it. Doesn't take a backwards step, that effort against Melbourne standing his ground, helping to get 2 50's and robertson benched was pure shaw.

Assuming as close to GF team as possible:
definitely out:- Clement, Scotland
possibly out:- presti, wowodin
questionable value:- walker, kinnear

Thus up to 6 replcements required
candidates - Richards, Cloke, Hall (in interview Malthouse specifically excluded by name all first year recruits except Hall), Nixon, Williams, king,
swan, mcgough, mullins shakleton.

Nixon, williams look the closest by type to clement. One could also be used to replace scotland.
Cloke and Fraser as forwards. With Cloke replacing either walker or kinnear.
Richards ruck extra backman (fraser dowing all forward rucking).
If Presti unavailable then Hall.
If mcgough fit, then could replace wowodin. If not, then probably king.
Beware the embrace of the collingwood python

I'm not too worried about the team at the moment, apart from pebbles all our main leaders are playing.

However, I am concerned about taz's limited preparation in pre-season, hopefully his natural fitness gets him through no probs.

I just hope we can shake our pre-season form from the start, not pay a shite first half and an ok second half but get done easily. We need to be switched on from the first bounce.

The Torres bounce is officially dead. You are walking alone now Fernando.
