Democrats are shooting themselves in the foot for the 2020 election.
I'd suggest that their polling has the Democrats losing 2020.
That's why they're resorting to impeachment to try and tarnish Trump beyond repair.
Of course, they could try getting over their Trump Derangement Syndrome and hammer home messages about healthcare, employment rights, cost of living etc.. You know, the kind of things working people actually care about and which might actually win the Democrats the election.
Trump was upset that CNN missed his hyphen, which was actually an apostrophe, which in any case wasn't required because he wasn't contracting or shortening a word. He then throws in a very basic spelling mistake and creates the Silicon Valley brand LameStream Media.
We're not talking the usual liberties we all take with language here. Although Trump's not stupid, his intelligence is definitely limited to certain domains. But such is his level of dissociation he probably felt his tweet put CNN back in their place rather than made him a laughing stock. Most people have the sense to avoid going in hard when they're not particularly good at something; but no, not the grandiose narcissist.
Even more concerning, of course, is the fact he has the impulse control of a toddler and even bothered to write the tweet.
(CNN) President Donald Trump has made a blizzard of claims about Ukraine. Many of them have been attacks on Democrats, and many of them have been incorrect.
Here is a brief readers' guide to fact checks on all things related to Trump's Ukraine controversy. https://edition.cnn.com/2019/09/28/poli ... index.html
That was a genuine concern early in the administration, but by the time any impeachment based on this Ukraine inquiry could conceivably be finalised, we'll be well into 2020, and Pence would have, what, 6 months in the job? He'd also have to compete in an election campaign at short notice, with little of Trump's cachet or popular appeal (only the Christian fundamentalist base and disgruntled Trump supporters casting a protest voice), against a contender who would, most likely, have a much higher profile and much more popular support behind them. To put it simply, it'd be a massacre. So if Trump were going to be impeached, the timing isn't actually so bad (and it may give us some clue as to why the Democrats have waited so long to do it).
But all of this is merely fantasy as there's no chance that the impeachment will actually succeed. At best it'll serve as a distraction for Trump during the election campaign, but I'm somewhat inclined to agree with those who are saying that it'll only help his cause.
