Greg J wrote:C Cloke and G Richards over M Lokan and T Walker. Big call. Do you think they had that good a preseason?

Lokan had a good preseason, last year, as did R Shaw. That's why they lined up in round one, when injuries and suspension kept others more favoured out. Once in, they kept their spots the whole year. But they were third year senior footy players (albeit at the secondary level). Richards (I think) only cemented himself in the Willy seniors last year, so that gives him one, and C Cloke none.

So I don't expect both to play. Maybe Walker.

Regardless, I expect us to beat the Pies. I am sure Richmond will put up their best performance of the season, but like last year, it will not be enough. Collingwood by 6 goals.
Mick has stated that many a youngster will play in the 1st 5 rounds so I would be expecting 1 of Shacks, Cam Cloke, Richards, Nixon and Mullins to play in that space of time. C.Cloke will play round 1 as he is the type of player to bang bodys and force a contest so rovers/crumbers can snag a few majors Ie: Didak, Holland, Davis etc. If Richards doesn't play this week he never will. As for Lokan, he's unfortunate but I think there's players ahead of him.

"Everyone is saying 'Ah, the wheels have fallen off for Collingwood. Has Mick (Malthouse) lost his winning ways?' after the pre-season. They'll need to be full of running on Friday night, that's for sure. They've struck trouble with Richmond in the
opening game before."

By the sounds of things, there probably wont be too many players missing... and even so, if i recall correctly, we were missing a few players round 1 last year and we all know what happened that night...

I am still pretty confident that Collingwood will get over the line, just hope that Richo does nothing for the whole game.

We're ready, says Malthouse: Herald Sun

We're ready, says Malthouse

MICK Malthouse has rejected the theory his side will be undermanned when it confronts Richmond in the AFL season-opener at the MCG tomorrow night.

And Magpie skipper Nathan Buckley has backed his coach, suggesting the pressure is on the embattled Tigers.
Last year's grand finalist will be without Anthony Rocca (suspended), although Shane Woewodin (hamstring) and James Clement (eye) could be surprise inclusions after completing training at McHale Stadium last night.

Just reading over at Hotrod's that a bloke that went to training thinks Clemo will play. Did anyone attend training here? What do you think?

Saw him training on the news last night and looked good. Here's hoping he's a surprise inclusion.
