Very true Dave, so true, why take this little bloke, when theres so many oxygen thieves around ? My deep condolences to his family, he was a real little fighter, and he will be long remembered by all Magpie fans. RIP little fella, you were the greatest.

Vale 'Little Richard' Penniman

Post by Pies4shaw »

The Originator has left the building. Little Richard was responsible for much of the music we have listened to all our lives.

And a small cover of the first song on the first album by THAT band (who, of course, owed so much to his style): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9LhbmRyGluk

Legend. RIP.

I think Richard is probably beyond needing an obituary to explain why he matters. Instead, here’s a few tributes by people who idolised him:

If you want to read more about him, I would really encourage you to read the chapter on him in Marcus’ “Mystery Train” (written before Marcus became a pompous caricature of himself).

Little Richard, the man who invented an art form.

From that last list - John Lennon on “Long Tall Sally”: “When I heard it, it was so great I couldn’t speak”.

Vale Jack Mundey - a wonderful principled man

Post by watt price tully »

Vale this wonderful principled man: fought for the little people. We need more like him.

"...The Rocks, Centennial Park and Woolloomooloo are among the historic Sydney places and green spaces saved by Mr Mundey, his NSW Builders Labourers Federation and the 1970s green bans movement......"Anyone who has enjoyed Sydney's unique heritage and open spaces has Jack Mundey to thank."

Been a bad week for losing wonderful musicians:

One of the greatest drummers of all time, Tony Allen, passed away. R.I.P.

And a co-founder of electronic music pioneers, Kraftwerk, Florian Schneider-Esleben, also passed away. R.I.P.

Caught both acts rather late in their career and they were magnificent, performing without even a shred of "old person trying to be hip" cringe.

RIP Charlie Daniels. The devil went down to Georgia and you told that son of a bitch you were the best there'd ever been.
