Perhaps the surest sign that the President's actions over the past week may be backfiring are the Republican politicians who are now distancing themselves from Donald Trump.
In politics, as in life, self interest often rules the day.
And members of Congress are up for re-election in November as well.
When asked if she could still support the President, Republican senator Lisa Murkowski said: "I am struggling with it. I have struggled with it for a long time."
Senator Tim Scott criticised the President's tweets about protesters this week.
"Those are not constructive tweets, without any question," Scott told Fox News.
Senator Pat Toomey told reporters this week: "it would be helpful if he would change the tone of his message".

In the end the rain comes down, washes clean the streets of a blue sky town.

Black Lives Matter Plaza unveiled in Washington DC with massive mural
Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser has renamed a street leading to the White House "Black Lives Matter Plaza" and had the slogan painted in huge yellow letters on it.
The city also installed a new street sign for the plaza at the intersection of H and 16th Streets, the site of St John's Episcopal Church.
That's the church where US President Donald Trump, holding a Bible, stood for his Monday night (local time) photo op after officers in riot gear fired tear gas and charged demonstrators to make way for him.

I love the way you double down when you're caught spouting rubbish from fake news sites. If you want to post a link to the poll, post the poll - if you can find it. It hadn't been released when I went to the Rasmussen site earlier today.Wokko wrote:Why would I care about 'reputation' with you and the simp brigade? You don’t enhance your position by posting links to fake sites.
The lies become so predictable, they get boring.

If you can't follow simple logic then go to bed and let the adults talk.

I'm going to say this just once, since you are obviously too dull to deal with issues of any complexity.Wokko wrote:There's a link to their official twitter account with the result on it you gormless twit.Pies4shaw wrote:I love the way you double down when you're caught spouting rubbish from fake news sites. Twitter provides just bare results (now). It does not set out the polling questions or provide any of the other detail that is usual to enable a person of any intellectual competency to assess the veracity and reliability of the polling strategy.
Rasmussen, of course, managed to get its 2018 mid-term election polling wrong by 10%. Most people could do better by closing their eyes and guessing. If this latest poll assesses what you assume it assesses, it rates Trump's approval amongst black voters about 4-times as high as other polls, even in circumstances where most recent polling is indicating (unsurprisingly, of course) that his approval is dropping rapidly amongst black voters in the wake of the George Floyd protests.
In all of those circumstances, its perfectly reasonable to want to interrogate the underlying data. Just because you're not wanting to do it (or not competent to do it - it doesn't really matter which) does not mean that none of us are.

The ABC have been a bad joke for a long time but they've finally jumped the shark.

Hey, I've been on that bandwagon since well before he became president. Trump actually does fit the "antichrist" or "beast" model in Revelation in some ways, particularly because so many Christians support him; one slight problem is that, contrary to most Americans' deeply held belief, America is not the centre of the universe and some guy being notionally in charge of it for four to eight years is not that world-shaking an event.
Worth noting that this is from the ABC's "religion" section, which I support the existence of in theory but is, let's face it, kind of "abandon all sanity ye who enter here" territory.
Here's an, er, rebuttal someone prepared earlier:

Trump nominee General Charles Brown Jr was just confirmed by the Senate. He is America's first black military Chief, becoming Air Force Chief of Staff after a 98-0 confirmation vote.

Trump continues his history of practical measures towards black Americans while the Democrats prostrate themselves in meaningless gestures and can't get back up again.

If they blow up the Dome of the Rock and start building a temple then get really worried. Not sure if Trump can hang around that long to take the mantle though
