and yet if China HAD NOT LIED or KILLED WHISTLE BLOWERS those deaths might have been completely avoided.

You do a good job of that yourself
One day, you may have an epiphany and realise that this sort of contribution marks your personal ideology as dangerously authoritarian.

In the meantime, I merely look forward to you growing up.
One day you might stop repeating the same bullshit whenever you get called out as either an uninformed moron or a passive aggressive bitch.

Other people hold views vastly different to mine and yet we manage to maintain civil discourse. Every thread you're involved in devolves because you can't handle anyone not agreeing with you, you become catty and snide at the mere hint of someone not swallowing the shit you endlessly put out. That and your pathological need to get the last word in, usually with an arrogant, bitchy comment is why you get responses like the above.

Perhaps I’ll just leave you to have the last word then. Endearing as it is.

No one with any basic reasoning capacity disagrees with what you are saying about China. I am merely saying that identifying China as culpable doesn’t excuse other regimes that have done nothing adequate to protect their citizens. It isn’t “either or”, it is both. That’s why we are presently about 159,900 short of the 160,000 or so potential death figure that was being aired here before the lockdown, while the US is still struggling with increasing rates of infection in major centres (masked to some extent, of course, by the decline, finally, in some of the original epicentres in the North East).

China did whatever it did. The virus got to us and the US at about the same time. Whats unfair about a comparison between Australia’s (surprisingly capable) response and the ineptitude of the Federal response in the US?

but they do, both PTID and David say exactly that.

I do agree, and i said it in the Trump thread, that it has not been handled well by all countries, and i really believe that NZ and Australia are world leaders here. However, Trump is really up against it, its a big place, with a massive population, and yes, he has certainly tweeted some ridiculous shit, but he did try to shut down New York 2 weeks before it finally happened, but he was told it was unconstitutional. But he has to fight the NRA, and each state, and the rednecks. its a lose lose situation

for what its worth i think Trump as a leader is ridiculous, but i think it happened because the American people are simply sick of the same old same old. ive said that all along, and conversations with people i have met in the states before and after the election confirms that for me.

Can you find an example where I've said that? I really can't recall defending China's response to the outbreak (at least, not since the early weeks of the pandemic when the wet-market theory was still prevalent and it looked like they'd done a pretty decent job of containing it, brutal authoritarianism aside).

Nice try, Donald.

I said that people are to be blamed for the things they had control over. That includes Chinese officials for any covering up on their side, and the Glazed Orange Turkey and Bozo the Brexit Clown for their dithering, denial and mismanagement.

^No, you were just wrong. Again. You won't stoop to correct the record, is what you really mean, because the world owes you something and someone else must be blamed for your difficulties, particularly those who are not around to defend themselves.

I don't see the big deal here (from the Conservatives I mean), someone being LGBT shouldn't mean they can be discriminated against. No matter what you think about the myriad other issues surrounding the alphabet soup I'm not sure that the right to fire someone for being gay/whatever is something that needs enshrining.

I mean I think a business should be allowed to hire and fire at will and the market will decide that they don't want to do business with someone who would discriminate but apart from hard theoretical ideology I can't see a reason to be upset about it.
