A bit of perspective please peoples.
We were missing a suite of our best players:
Pendles
De Goey
Treloar
Howe
Moore
Elliott
Hoskin-Elliott
Quaynor
Therefore our side included the likes of:
Ruscoe
Madgen
Dunn
Broomhead
Thomas
Cameron
Wills
Under these circumstances, I reckon it was a great effort to win. I am pleased with the performances of Cameron, Ruscoe and Madgen. We may have found 3 senior players.
Sier is finding form and he actually seemed to work well with Wills last night. At least they give us some bulk around the packs. Adams is leading from the front, and our most fearless player. In the absence of Pendles and Treloar, I suspect Sidey is attracting a tag each week, which at least should relieve pressure on our other mids.
Cameron was a good contributor, taking about 8 marks and should have kicked 3 goals. He is playing a valuable role both up forward and in the ruck.
Overall, I'm quite happy with our form, given the players available. Hopefully we get a few of our stars back soon and build for a good finals campaign.

I reckon Brodie does seem to have lost some of his spark, no doubt due to the huge burden he carries each and every game. I'd rest him against Melbourne - there's no need to force him to play another marathon game in four days, when Gawn will probably win the battle anyway (off a longer break). I'd just hate to see Brodie injured out of sheer fatigue. Our mids can just to rove to Gawn at centre bouncesalexjvillani wrote: Agreed, looks mentally shot and physically. Chuck in Murphy or Cox just to provide a 'bring ball to ground' option.
If Coxy is fit, I'd have him and Cameron in together to share the ruck and forward role.

Yep, agree with all of this. Tay's post-match interview was really interesting, mentioning the heaviness in his legs and also that at half time, the boys made a definite choice about whether to throw the game in or try to go all out to fight fatigue and win it. Much to their credit, they chose the latterPie as a Kite wrote:
Totally agree, I came here to say this. Grundy looked absolutely worn out last night. He's done so much work recently there's no way I'd have him playing four days later against Melbourne. Give him a rest! Cox would probably need to come in as #1 ruck.
I also worry a little about Adams' workload. He was huge in the midfield and mentioned in an interview how heavy he felt in the first half of the game. I'd hate to see him go down with a soft tissue injury from overwork.

Agree that Grundy urgently needs a rest. He looked exhausted last night. I think Tay Adams needs a rest as well. I would like to say give him a rest next week against Melbourne, along with Grundy, but I am not sure that we can afford to rest Tay as well from our midfield group, with both Pendles and Adam missing ??
i reckon that might hollow out our midfield too much to allow us to win.
But i worry about Adams' physical capacity to keep sustaining the effort he gives us each week.
Oh, just saw that Pieasakite made the same comment earlier. Yeah, I agree, Pieasakite.
