Too slow in a sprinting race. Won’t make the final.
Don't confuse your current path with your final destination. Just because it's dark and stormy now doesn't meant that you aren't headed for glorious sunshine!

Does anyone know which player on our list is actually the best 100m sprinter?
It's a style of running that we never see in games, but my guesses would be that deGoey and Moore would be up there.

On a non-related topic, there has been so much publicity about what a great middle distance runner that Blicavs is, but he hasn't been able to beat Phil Carman's long standing record for a VFL/AFL footballer running The Tan.

...
Stephenson is not bad at 100m.

Over short distances, Noble wins with daylight second.

Fastest speeds do depend a lot on opportunity, i.e. the player had a chance to sprint in a straight line without the ball for 30m.

But that list does contain some of the prime suspects.

Fastest speeds are certainly relevant but even the world's best sprinters start slowing down at around the 60 metre mark so that the ones that look like they are putting on the burners, are actually just slowing down less than the others.

I had thought about Stephenson but assumed he wouldn't have enough power to continue for 100m at a high speed.

Do the players actually run timed 100m in pre-season ?

No. It's irrelevant to playing footy.

But Stephenson's reported best time for 100m was 10.97s, which is respectable.

Josh Thomas?I never thought of him as being quick. It seems that the club never takes this event seriously and this is further proof of that.

Does anyone here recall the great GF VFA one, the DANDY DOLLAR DASH.? Back in the good old VFA days, run at half time ? Think first prize was bout $1000, with the long gone Dandy Dollars account, not bad prize for those days.

They used to many years ago.
I think that it was at a Fitzroy pre-season in the late 70's or early 80's they received a bit of publicity for having to run 100 100's in one training session, all within a set time.
