So no silent mouth agape left-right head swivels, eyes bulging in disbelief, with both palms raised towards the ceiling?Pies4shaw wrote:Very disappointed with the Geelong press conference after all of that. Scott was gracious and generous. Not what I had hoped for, at all.

Lessons from the Grand Final.
I think I put this up last year.
Anyway, the biggest lesson from the whole final series was the way top sides don't go backwards.
Richmond just boot, handball, knock and slap the ball forward. They don't play a man back but try and swarm around the contest and move the ball quickly.
I don't think big forwards make a big difference... besides from mason cox against the eagles I don't think big forwards did much except bring the ball to the ground. We definitely need to go into this preseason with a different game plan that either incorporates the movement of the ball forward at all times or some plan that counterbalances it.

It's a bad, bad day.
Hopefully Penrith can brighten it up a little for me tonight!
I had to contend with my cousin who wrote 2017, 2019 & 2020 on his FB wall & appeared on my feed.
I responded with 2018 & how Mason Cox saved us from their 4-peat therefore keeping our record in tact.
So much so that RICH enjoyed taking the big Americans shalong deep as they bent over.
Nothing much else to say really...

Yes, this is the Richmond way. Your players don’t need to be particularly skilful, and it negates any strengths that an opposition may have in contested marks or intercept marking. Just get the ball forward any way you can then apply pressure in forward 50. Wait for mistakes from the opp, or benefit from frees that come your way from holding the ball etc
Unfortunately, this approach combined with the horrible congestion around the ball means a further degradation of the game itself. Less kicks (other than off the ground), less marks. More tap ons, toe pokes, punch forwards.
If all teams adopt the practice our game will be even less of the great game it once was.
