The AFLW players must be pissed off.
I'm sure she would've got them hefty pay increases.

I think it’s time for the “last resort” option….

Call an EGM with a spill of all positions and let the members vote once and for all to sort this embarrassing mess.

Former premier of Victoria, John Brumby who I knew from Bendigo was also a passionate magpie.
I'm sure I remember a photo of Gough Whitlam (the most unlikely football fan in Australia's history) wearing a Collingwood jumper.
Gough wore the Collingwood jumper to make the point that Collingwood Football Club had a larger membership than the Victorian Branch of the ALP. The picture and political spin was organised by Jack Galbally, long term Collingwood supporter and former player. Galbally was Labor's leader in the State Upper House and supported Whitlam against the Victorian ALP Branch machine and leadership.

I have nothing against another woman being appointed to the Board, she seems very competent. This seems like a storm in a tea cup too me, but the media love this sort of shit bout the Woods, makes them more relevant, the usual ambulance chasers brigade. Im far more concerned bout the on field stuff, than this smoke and mirrors bullshit, nothing to see here, but hey, its Collingwood, any news but us, sells, thats the thing, always has been.

Maybe it's archaic thinking, but I want board members to feel the same emotional investment as the average supporter does.
Should never have let Ed walk like he did. Collingwood will never have a president/ board member as passionate as Ed.
No we wont, but Eddie couldn't just be a President and ended up running the club, assuming the role as CEO, COO and quite possibly CTO.

We’re replacing heart and soul with corporate/political values. Maybe it’s been that way for a while now anyway, but what little blood we had left is being drained completely and replaced with cardboard boardroom bullshit and non-footy agendas.

I’ve got a fair idea which board members were behind ousting Eddie now. ;)

I’ve not read any previous posts on this thread and I’ve checked out from all the media crap about the coach and everything else they write once we drop down the ladder. Here’s what I think though for what it’s worth:

-Following the recent racism issues, we need a President that is totally unaligned with our recent history. Korda doesn’t seem to be the man for the job as Prez in my view and he’s been in the fold for all the recent problems. Browne is too close to Eddie McGuire even though not a recent board member. It’ll be a public relations disaster if he comes in. Maybe Jodie Sizer does the job. With all due respect to her, she ticks some big boxes politically and maybe she’s the right person regardless.
-tell Nathan Buckley he can coach out the season and pursue Clarkson with everything we have for 2022.

New coach, new President for 2022. Start the rebuild.

I don't know how it will happen but Eddie is going to find his way back into the Collingwood presidency. You never know what you have until it's gone as they say. We will see how incompetent Korda and/or Browne and/or anyone else will be and we will wish for Eddie to come back. We all want change, but we want change for the better and so far it all looks to be getting much worse, already with questionable board appointments that appear to only be serving certain presidential self-interests. This is not what we want. The members elect the board, the board elects a President and the board ratifies decisions in the best interests of the club and its members. Somewhere along the line in the last 10 years we have lost sight of this fundamental requirement and the club has become a playground for the selfish and greedy.

The Eddie ticket is on the way! God help us...every one! Unfortunately, there is just nobody more willing or able to take the club to where it belongs. This does not mean he will.

I was willing to give Korda a chance, but too much has happened now and I've lost trust in the current board. Dithering over Buckley's future and botching what should be a standard board appointment.

I have my apprehensions over Browne because of his close relationship to McGuire and Craig Kelly (Buckley's manager) endorsed him, but I'm at the stage now where I wonder if he's the only viable option going forward if no one else is willing to put their hand up for the presidency.

However we look at it, it's a huge mess.

McGuire is a big reason for the current problems.

He overstayed his welcome, didn't plan for a proper successor to allow for a smooth transition of power and the members haven't been able to exercise their right to vote for 23 years.

There's no way he's coming back.
