Maybe it's archaic thinking, but I want board members to feel the same emotional investment as the average supporter does.
Should never have let Ed walk like he did. Collingwood will never have a president/ board member as passionate as Ed.
No we wont, but Eddie couldn't just be a President and ended up running the club, assuming the role as CEO, COO and quite possibly CTO.
And if anyone had a problem with that then they’re not too bright.
Only 10 teams have won a flag since 2000, we are one of them
We also played off in 4 Grand Finals. We weren’t the best but certainly not the worst. Yes mistakes were made but not so bad that we were on the bottom for years, ( saints, Richmond Melbourne,…….).
And I know it didn’t happen but if we win 2018 none of this anger would be going on. It would be seen as necessary ( trades) And a rebuild was/is necessary.

a board coup

Post by orie »

I am confused... I want to sign the petition on Sunday for the EGM. BUT I don't know if this Jeff Browne is any good, for the club . Maybe he is too close with Eddie.
Also what makes us think that because we are members that we know who the right person for the job is...

That board was there when all this fiasco was happening at our club. We all know that what Eddie wants, Eddie gets. So this board went along with a lot of whats happened. I don't want all of them, to remain. We do need change. Who that change is, I don't know. But it needs to be for the better.

And I also don't understand what this Bridie person is supposed to bring to the club. Did they just pull her name out of a hat?

When I hear the name John Bertrand, I get very excited . Now there is a person who knows about what it takes to win...

The petition is not linked with Browne... though it may (or may not) help him.

"Hatley told The Age that the appointment of state government senior official Dr Bridie O’Donnell ... was “the final straw” for him before deciding to collect members’ signatures for a spill."

The club is damned if they do and damned if they don’t

This club has a history of IF's and that is the problem 'IF', but we never do.

That IF word would also apply to all the GF's we have lost going back 60 odd years.

We should not tolerate IF because IF ain't good enough anymore but we seem to embrace it as an achievement.

This Club has a habit of being content with finishing second and/or having ego's and Enough is Enough.

Not too sure that this is correct. I don’t agree that they were “content” with being runners up, just that they didn’t win any gf’s between 1991 and 2009 and haven’t won one since but not for the lack of trying.

Let me elaborate further with 'content'.

Eddie/ CEO and other club people always tell us how we make GF's, how we win great Finals interstate, how we've played Final's 3, 4, 5 years in a row, 80k member etc etc...Never say (yes, never say) about building a team to win a GF. That's why I said 'content' as we are always thereabouts and they are content with that talk. Right word or wrong word, you get my drift.

This club has to 'wake up' and be a force - Enough is Enough...

Ok I take your point as I may have misinterpreted your comments to mean that the players were content with being runners up. My bad.

I doubt that very much. Go & speak with our current captain & hear what he has to say about not playing/winning more Grand Finals. He is by no means content.
