yep I was on my feet screaming kick it down hear, we all were, and then when the women around me were **** thus **** that! ,!orie wrote:Okay so I am reading all the posts and I agree on
Callum Brown should not be in the team. Hate to say that but his kicking for goal is terrible.
Was at the game and the crowd was SCREAMING to move the ball quickly as we were going into attack. But NOOOO!!!
Is that how they played in the first half? [ I missed that]
If I could ask Bucks one question, it would be.
Is that slow play sideways and backwards, is that under YOUR instruction???
Or do the players panic and not have the confidence to take it on and risk making errors?

Callum Brown's kicking is off the scale in terms of lack of distance.
It is truly amazing that an AFL player cannot get 35m distance or sometimes only 25m.
Ive seen kids in year 8 kicking a lot longer than Callum.
It took Bux 3 years of WHE dying in the forward line before he moved him
Well done Brainy Bux.
It has taken over 3 years to see that Thomas is over the hill and down the dale.
Oh no......he still hasn't realized.
Keep playing Cameron instead of Cox.... that is a masterstroke.
We are now averaging less than 9 goals a game.
Why because of our slow crablike movement of the ball into our forwardline.
i am starting to think that checkers needs to go back or a different forward line structure needs to be crafted.
I would still play Moore forward...probably in the minority there.
i really think that Cox in the forward lines is worth 3 or so goals a game ... either by his own boot or by the ball being spilt out of the marking contest.

Might of been better IF we did get FloggedPiesnchess wrote:I wanted us to be competitive, and i got that, in spades, had a red hot go, but its heartbreaking to lose by a lousy stinking point, second time against a Finals bound team. Some fans here going off half cocked as if we lost by 111 points, as the Saints did, how would they like a thrashing like that ?? Least we had a dip, against a quality side, and our kids are coming along nicely, Poulter looks a gem.

Respectfully Dave, you and others have no appreciation of what "getting flogged" does to the confidence of players and their ability to buy into a game plan, their enthusiasm for the challenge and their ability to perform at their best.Dave The Man wrote:Might of been better IF we did get FloggedPiesnchess wrote:I wanted us to be competitive, and i got that, in spades, had a red hot go, but its heartbreaking to lose by a lousy stinking point, second time against a Finals bound team. I wonder how much the Saints players are looking forward to their next game.
Maybe they’re not playing Cox because they don’t want to trigger an extension on his contract. They may also not be playing him simply because his VFL form is nothing special either. Should we really expect a player with average form in the VFL to come in and do more in the AFL. When Cameron was in the VFL ( and the practice matches ) he was easily in the best every week. We at least need the same from Cox before he gets another crack. Last week in the VFL, he took 3 marks ( ! ) and kicked 2 goals. It won’t get any easier at another level higher.PyreneesPie wrote:But MBFC, do you really think Bucks would be saying "Don't get me a key forward, I'd rather turn a ruckman into one"????? The only one we've actually sought in earnest was Lynch and that didn't come off for some unknown reason. As for drafting one, when were we last in the position to select a young prospect? They get snapped up by teams who have higher draft choices.MatthewBoydFanClub wrote:I feel really guttered for the team. They played their guts out and would have won but for a couple of bad defensive errors in the last quarter. I said pre-game though that we don’t have the tall forwards needed to convert the opportunities to kick a winning score. The ball was coming down there enough. You can’t blame De Goey and Mihocek for that. They don’t get the support they need. If you put Jeremy Cameron, Lynch, Ben Brown or Hogan down there today it would have been a different result. Why didn’t we foresee this last year? Anybody could see last season it wasn’t working out with Cox. It’s interesting post match here people are calling for the reinstatement of Cox back into the team. Cox isn’t the answer. Trading Stephenson out of the team last year was just plain stupid. Stephenson offered a mix in the forward line that you’re not going to get with Callum Brown or Josh Thomas. My great hope is McMahon. He’s developing nicely as a key forward. We should focus our attention at the end of this season on getting a ready made key forward under free agency. Who’s exactly out there I have no idea. I guess we’ll do what we normally do and recruit another mid like Merrett. What does Buckley have against key forwards? I’d love to know. His 10 year coaching career has been about ruckmen who can kick goals in the forward line. He even tried to convert Dawes into a ruckman. If Buckley had coached the Swans 20 years ago he would have converted Lockett into a ruckman.
I agree, Coxy is not the permanent answer, but what the hell else do we do in the present moment?

3. Grundy was monstering the opposition ruck again and whilst he did well to hit the scoreboard today, he should be able to make his disposals count much more and as a team we need to work out how to better leverage Grundy's tap out dominance.
WTF??
Grundy was arguably our Best Player Today

Guys I have only just joined Nicks I have been a Collingwood supporter for 40 years. Collingwood is at a crossroads, we have pro Buckley supporters and supporters that want him out. We can argue both ways why he should stay or leave I do feel the club has let the supporters down. I loved Buckley as a player
but with his coaching I just cannot see him taking us to the next level and do I want to wait for another 5 years to see if he can, we need to draw the line at some point. I also feel if he does not leave lots of people will can their membership and that will impact the club at some point.

It’s hard to phantom how we kicked 4 goals in a term playing attractive attacking football then we go to the break and it’s like someone switched a switch and said under no circumstances play attacking football anymore
I just don’t get it really
Some good signs today including
IQ & Noble made some errors but they took the game on and when they did we looked dangerous
Poulter looks a player good hands and offers plenty
McCreery is going to be a player. Runs around a bit at times but pressures loads and makes defenders rush
Adams makes our team look hard again
Moore and Roughead patrolled the defensive arc well
Moore should be the first player we look to to kick the ball from the 50m line going forward he penetrates and takes god options
Daicos is getting better each week
But some downside as well
Mayne shouldn’t play again. He offers very little other than he tries hard.
Sidey is cooked. He’s done. He played 90% as a outside player today and he had 0 impact. Had no influence in anything positive the team did. Half his touches came late in the game and were momentum killers. He doesn’t play on at all and his first instinct is to stop and look sideways or backwards
JDG is worth around $300k a year on performance. Trade him out get whatever we can for him he looks uninterested to often
The coach looks lost and without answers
He bristles when challenged by journalists about whether the club’s upheaval lately had impacted the players. There is obviously something wrong in there heads
For me personally as coach he needs to send some clear messages to the group now
He needs to publicly drop a couple senior players and tell everyone why.
Sidey Mayne JDG Thomas I don’t care which ones really but send a message make it public and tell the younger players there are standards that must be met or you don’t get a starting spot simple

It's idsgraceful and an affront to every supporter playing Callum again.doriswilgus wrote:Please no more of the Brown brothers, especially Callum.I’m so sick of seeing players who can’t kick over a jam tin. It’s soul destroying to have players who kill your momentum like that.
I love the Pies, hate Carlscum
Port entered the game with the perception of being flat track bullies and left it in the knowledge they're pretenders once again.
We gave it a genuine crack but individual errors and a game plan that continues to be weighted to heavily towards defending cost us an unlikely victory in the end.
I'm worried though that far from being a stepping stone towards improvement this might be our last hurrah for the season and a harsh reality awaits next week against a much better opponent in Geelong.
