Yes. Here’s the statement:Presti35 wrote:Korda's given a statement to the seven news. Anyone see that?

Great points, Rudey.RudeBoy wrote:The members don't elect the President, the Board does that. All we do is elect the members of the board. The problem is that for over 20 years candidates have been hand picked to fill casual vacancies (as members retire from the board), and they have gone on to be elected unopposed. This has created a culture of elitism and aloofness from the members. Now more than ever we need a proper election, with a choice of candidates.Presti35 wrote:Why the club won't listen to it's members is beyond me.
If the members want Korda gone, then he should be absolutely gone.
What I want to know is why this can’t wait until the AGM. Why is an EGM so necessary right now?

Without it, it's always in the air... and the AGM is in the air anyway.
(Not saying I want an EGM or don't want it. Just giving one reason for it.)
I just don't know whether things are so bad that we require one right now.

The Club has issued an emergency statement tonight dealing with this . I am shocked to read the attack on Francis Galbally QC. He is an outstanding person and a true decent Collingwood supporter who has always put the interests of the Club first . I find it distressing that our President would say a supporter is ‘snearing’ . I was hoping on the back of the Tigers victory things would calm down . I call on all parties to keep a lid on things are advise the media that everything is fine and we are all working together fruitful and harmoniously .
I love this club and I hold anyone in contempt who does not think it is worth fighting for.

How does the statement from the club read
Why did they say an EGM has not been requested
How does the process work
1. Signatures need to be verified in order to call an EGM
2. Request an EGM then you verify the signatures ?
Where does the truth lie
Does it state in the club’s constitution the actual process for EGM to occur
All I can see is one group blaming the other group

Why the need to rush through an EGM, what's the big emergency? Plus as the club has said, the official request hasn't been submitted to the club with the signatures so how can they act?

It seems to me that the current board are choosing NOT to respond to the constitutional request to confirm members voting eligibility information so that an EGM cannot be called sooner.
This factionalism needs to be addressed fully by members BEFORE the appointment of a new coach.. It seems obvious that if these power plays continue - further instability will continue to undermine the integrity and performance focus of this once great Club.

Personally, I'm satisfied that the search for the new coach is at a reasonable arm's-length from the Board, and that a new Board would follow pretty much the same process.
Either Board would most likely be presented with the same candidate(s) and I don't believe the differences between the 2 groups would make a significant difference in who they select.
