Jeff's procrastination in announcing his ticket and forcing an AGM makes me think of Rodney Dangerfield in Caddyshack watching a waggling and time wasting off the tee Judge Smails. What was the line: "hey judge, while we're young"!

Their hearts were in the right place and they got the desired result which was a meeting with Mark Korda and a promise to bring forward the AGM to December and open up three board positions for re-election. The problem with this sort of thing is that some people never know when to stop and when it gains momentum emotion takes over and often bad things happen that are worse than the initial problem. I still remember the 1980’s when the Collingwood Football Club almost became extinct.
I agree David Hatley had good intentions and wanted what was only best for the club, but I'm more cynical of these faceless people who are keen to continue this charade without Hatley who's now withdrawn from the process.
Insightful comments.

Is there any support here for what Eddie said on FC last night.
* Jeff Browne appointed to coach search committee (gives incoming coach some certainty)
* No EGM
* At AGM in December full board spill
* An independent body appointed to manage the election process

He also asked that both factions step up and announce what their future for Collingwood looked like.
It's a simple game.

**** off all these millionaires and their powerplays, Eddie included. Their job is to keep the club financially solvent and stay silent and in the background. Unless current board does something bad on that front, I see no need for any of that stuff except to give Eddie's scumbag mate a free launch into the presidency.

I would think that a full board spill in December would be the simplest way to resolve the board issue. However, I assume that would require all present board members to resign and then re-nominate for their previous positions? Sadly, I can't see them voluntarily releasing their hold on power like that in order to produce a decisive settlement.

The whole thing is so disappointing- just power hungry individuals on all sides, with none having the apparent priority to do what's best for Collingwood.

I don't understand why Eddie is so opposed to an EGM. If one is announced then nominations will be received for the seven positions on the board and the voting members then choose who they believe are the best people to serve the club. Those chosen for the board then select one of them to be president. We then are left with a board that has been selected by the voting members - isn't that what a democratic institution such as CFC is supposed to be? How many of the current board members have actually been voted on the board by the members?

Eddie worked hard to take power away from our members, he wanted to pick and choose his own board members.

When he states only the best for Collingwood he actually means, only I know what's best for Collingwood.

Why on earth should this Browne character think he has any claims at all to be included in the selection process for our new coach. He is simply a rich member who wants to be President. Why didn't he stand for the Board last year?

For Eddie to propose such nonsense is simply embarrassing. He is actually declaring that the current Board, comprising 7 people hand-picked by him, is not capable of doing its job.

I'm not defending the decisions or direction taken by our Board, but until any changes are made by election, at the next AGM or an EGM, they should be supported in getting on and doing their job.

Seriously, having stepped down from his role as President, Eddie should stand aside from the fray and allow the club some breathing space to do its job.

Excuse my ignorance on such matters  , but what would be the process at an EGM for the above to occur?
Would the first point of business be presenting and voting on a motion of no confidence in the current board members?
Assuming that the vote is won, do the current board then have to stand down by law or can they refuse to budge?
If the vote of no confidence is lost is that the end of the story for the time being (until the GM in December anyway).
If current board members do stand aside, nominations would then be called for and an election would proceed?
Are the nominations for individuals or tickets?
If only individuals can be nominated, what happens if a mixture of individuals from both tickets gets elected? More in-fighting?

Much appreciated if anyone could take the time to answer these queries. :)

Big agree. He can stick with managing his propaganda machine until the AGM and see how that goes. Eddie's intervention makes me more hostile to him than before, even though Korda is a shark.
