Amongst other things, it points out that Victoria recorded no more than 700 new cases on any day of the main outbreak last year. It may have felt like we had 4 figures a day - but we never did.

Our business can sometimes be called essential as well as we do energy & hygiene cleans for the food industry and healthcare (cool-rooms, dishwashers, AHU's and the like) but with this Delta strain the Hospitals and Aged Care aren't taking any risks so only emergency works can be done.
My business is just me,my wife and son. Not sure when we can get some work and hoping we might be able to get some help from the Government but not sure yet. This has hit me hard today and not coping very well. Tomorrow I decided to cook up a roast outside, make a sponge cake and have a few drinks around a fire.

The only way out - allow vaccinated people to live their lives. If you keep suppressing people who do the right thing, eventually the system fails.

Hang in there, Ken - sorry to hear that. It's all awful - and it obviously affects your business worse than many others.

Sadly that won't Happen Untill 70-80% of the Community Sadly

I agree people who are Fully Vaccinated should be in such a Hard Lockdown compared to others who are not but they will say that be too hard to Police and make sure everyone doing the Right Thing

NSW now over 300 cases a Day. Half way to as bad as Victoria Got and they have a Chance of Catching and going pass where Melbourne was last year

NSW will likely surpass Vic because the R0 of Delta is triple that of the original strain that Victoria went through during the second wave.

Hypothetically if Delta existed during Victoria's second wave, we probably would have had 2,000 cases at our peak rather than 725.

The situation has changed now because of Delta. The virus will not be eliminated in NSW, and Victoria and Queensland are teetering on a knife's edge on whether they can force the numbers down to zero.

Best thing one can do is get vaccinated if they're eligible with either Pfizer or AZ. Both vaccines are effective in mitigating the severity of the disease.

Sorry to hear, Ken. I hope you get support from the gov. cleared up. Do you mean you're waiting on the outcome of an application and are unsure if it covers you (or how much of your work it covers)?

I have no idea as I haven't tried to do this before, there were times last year when it was suggested to me to try and see if we could get support but we were happy to make do as we reckon we could get through.
We have decided to pass this onto our accountant to check it out for us.
I have never tried to get handouts before as I prefer to leave it to people who really need it.

mate small business pay enough tax, you are just as entitled as everyone else to your share of assistance, get your accountant on it as soon as possible.

In Victoria, 11 new local cases and 2 new cases acquired overseas (currently in HQ).
- 38,179 test results were received

The Government says that "The 11 new locally-acquired cases are all linked to previously reported cases and have not been in quarantine throughout their infectious period."

In Qld, 7 locally acquired cases linked to Indooroopilly cluster. I linked to the Gold Coast and 1 in Cairns (a taxi driver, infectious in the community for about 10 days). Total of 9 cases today.

Their 11 LGA lockdown will end at 4 pm today - but some restrictions will remain. And Cairns is going into a 3-day lockdown.

People who really need it will either get it or they won't and that will have zero to do with your choices and all about them meeting criteria. Plenty of people who don't need it will find a way to get it too.

In NSW, 262 new cases reported.

From the ABC blog:

Due to a notable increase in community transmission in recent days, 12 suburbs in the City of Penrith LGA will now have additional restrictions from 5pm today.

These suburbs are:

Caddens

Claremont Meadows

Colyton

Erskine Park

Kemps Creek

Kingswood

Mount Vernon

North St Marys

Orchard Hills

Oxley Park

St Clair

St Mary's

People in these suburbs must only shop for food or other essential goods within 5km of their home. They cannot travel to other areas for work unless they are an authorised worker.

From NSW Health:

Of the 262 locally acquired cases reported to 8pm last night, 88 are from South Western Sydney Local Health District (LHD), 88 are from Western Sydney LHD, 31 are from Sydney LHD, 21 are from Nepean Blue Mountains LHD, 17 are from South Eastern Sydney LHD.

And we have a new, less informative formulation:

Forty-six cases were infectious in the community, and the isolation status of 104 remains under investigation.

So, that's 150 "wild" cases - plus the number (whatever it is) of people who were infectious in the community for part of their infectious period.

The ABC blog is reporting that 26 cases were infectious in the community for part of their infectious period. That would make the number of "wild" cases today in NSW 176.
