Dan has always pursued an elimination strategy, so we will be in lockdown until either we get several consecutive days of no cases wild in the community or we get to around 80% fully vaccinated, whichever comes first.
Guess at best be Early Next Month before that Happens IF at all.

We Defintally be having Restrictions until 80% of the Country be Vaccinated.

Espically with NSW so out of Control with Covid

Dave, we will continue to have restrictions, Australia-wide, well past 80% vaccination levels. They just (hopefully) won't be lockdowns.

And a little note from the ABC:
All of regional New South Wales will be locked down from 5:00pm this afternoon
The ABC understands the stay-at-home orders will be in place for a week across the state.
The Age's blog confirms that, with direct statements from the Deputy Premier of NSW and other MPs.

Just on the ring of chickenwire, I had a video hookup Friday arvo with a colleague who was in Morwell. She'd driven from Melbourne down to there that morning.

All legit, it was legit business travel and she had documents to prove it, but didn't have to produce them. Just drove down to Gippsland no problems, no cops, no checks.

I appreciate that people would much rather be in Melbourne than Sydney right now, no argument from me, but the point with the ring of steel comments was that Andrews has been behaving like a douche making public pronouncements that NSW needs to set up a "Ring of Steel" when he knows damn well it doesn't work. It's just showboating political douchery.

The point is now moot, for the time being - with the whole of regional NSW now in lockdown. Whatever NSW "should have" done, it plainly failed to do that which was necessary to keep the virus out of its regional areas.

Yes, but the virus isn't in most of the state, it hasn't got into rural areas. It's concentrated around Sydney.

The fact after all his cheap political attacks on Gladys and his beloved ring of marshmallows that he hasn’t even been able to get VicPol to implement it again for this lockdown proves not only how ineffective it is, but how full of shit Danny boy is.
who cares Eddie, look how your Gladys is performing, 450+ cases today
you are looking foolish now
give me Dan any day.
200 days of lockdown compared to Regional NSW headed for their first day of lockdown tonight, yeah, go Dan!!!

The fact people forget that for 15 months Victoria has been screwed and NSW was free, yet because right now NSW is catching up then Dan is suddenly a hero and Gladys a screwup is such ridiculous revisionist history.

But it also shows how brainwashed you’ve all become that lockdowns are now something to be celebrated is quite disturbing.

Victoria will face lockdowns until after the Federal Election then freedom will be magically allowed about six months before the state election..

The NSW health advice has been self-evidently wrong for several months. Gladys has finally been compelled to do that which she should have done at the first sign of local transmission.

I mean the whole point of lockdowns is to reduce travel and people coming into contact with one another, no? Many of these recent outbreaks have been a direct consequence of people travelling from state to state, so it stands to reason that the virus can be carried from regional areas to the city and vice versa.

So you'd lockdown areas with zero cases for 15 months just on the off chance someone from Sydney is tempted to travel 500+km and risk getting fined but they wouldn't dare do it if the region was locked down?

Anyone supporting regional lockdowns whenever a case pops up anywhere is basically calling for nationwide lockdowns for the foreseeable future, what's the difference? If we are locking down in case of transmission, then we may as well just lockdown the entire country indefinitely...

In Victoria, 25 new local cases and 0 new cases acquired overseas.

The Government says that "Of the 25 locally-acquired cases, 21 are linked to known outbreaks and 12 have been in isolation throughout their infectious period."
