I want destabilisation just because...

We're having an AGM in December. An election will be held then.

All board members are club members. You can't be on the board otherwise.

What you mean to say is that you want the average supporter in terraces on the board rather than your typical corporate types who sit on level 2 of the MCC.

Except if you are a Bulldogs supporter and serial networker. In that case you get signed up quickly, then jettisoned onto the Collingwood Board (without an election), and then discovering that your short membership disqualifies her from voting. Seriously, it's been a farce.

^ Agree, RudeBoy. I oppose the O'Donnell appointment and hope the position isn't ratified and is in fact challenged by someone else.

She's technically a club member, but she doesn't fulfil the 2-year criterion to be on the board unless it's ratified first at an AGM. That's what happens when you exploit the casual vacancy provision of the Constitution to catapult people onto the board and bypass the democratic process.

This is a lasting legacy of the McGuire years.

Spot on. It’s a culture of cronyism, and the board can’t talk about changing player and club culture without looking in the mirror themselves

Poor Ted got caught up in horrible nasty business with some sheila selling smokes. Mind you she did have two legs.

I can assure you Ted was happy with the timing and quality of the decisions that have been made throughout 2021.

What I got from Licca's long youtube chat was that maybe the board at 7 is not large enough. No wonder they have been too busy to host a pie night or get the member's car stickers the right way up.

The club has grown enormously with the addition of the AFLW, VFLW and the Netball. We all want these divisions to be looked after with world-class expertise.

I would like to see the board increased by at least 1 member, probably 2 (share that large load) and I think it is great that there are at least 2 or 3 of the board are vacating or up for re-election (4-year terms?) each AGM.

Maximum Term for President of 12 years and other members need to vacate for 2 years after 8 years service, but can come back after 2.

Amd if I see any Collingwood board member or player on the front page of the Herald Sun with a 'Get the Jab' headline I'll spew up.
Those handbaggers down the highway never had any moral fibre.

Better 2 to keep an odd number, avoid split decisions

Not sure you can be jettisoned into an advantageous position, but it was definitely farcical

The AGM cannot come soon enough.

The sooner we see the back of this board the better
At least 5 of the 7 board members presided of this calamity along with Mark Anderson. It is time that they are removed and allow someone else to correct the club.
Whether it is Jeff Browne or another ticket, anything is better than the current inept board.

^Has Browne laid out his platform yet? While I feel like you, as Jezza has said he needs to be transparent and forthcoming otherwise he represents more of the same unaccountable crap as the present lot.

Browne will no doubt lay out his platform closer to the election.
But as far as I am concerned, I would vote Brown (or any other ticket for that matter, even Hiss) if it helped remove this current board.
Could Browne and Co do any worse than the current mob??
I don’t think so.

This board has got us to where we are currently at. That’s enough evidence to me that they are beyond incapable.

My vote would be more against this board than for Browne’s platform and agenda.

I think we should have a Nickster on the Board. I propose one of the most respected posters here, RudeBoy. Time for such a nomination from left field.

Thanks Lazza.

To be honest, I've been seriously considering standing for the Board for a while now, as I think there are far too many corporate types with their own business agendas at play on our Board. I mean, FFS, they aren't even all Collingwood supporters!

The problem for me is that the timing ain't great, as I will be overseas for the first 6 months of next year. While I'm sure a board member could attend meetings via zoom, it would be less than ideal.

So let's see what pans out over the next few months leading up to our December AGM.

I completely understand. And you're right, this admin bears the responsibility for where we're at, so they can bugger off as far away from the club as possible with haste as far as I'm concerned.

But let's go a step better than that and encourage Browne to set new standards at the same time. Browney, if you're listening, it's time for something more. Not just what you know; not just how it's usually done; and not just good enough to beat the incumbent twats. Search your soul, fella. Put yourself on the line and give us something beyond the usual corporate crap without resorting to the temptations of populist nonsense at the same time. You will never get an audience more willing to reward honesty, tough decisions and a genuine wrestling with the good, bad and ugly as you've got right now.

And if this is just an another self-glorying line in a CV, then do the honourable thing and bugger off with them.
