CHO up now. Advice "not in response to any single event." We are "at the brink". Newly-emerging "mystery' cases generate exposure sites. Need to chase down every single one of their close contacts. Need to do more to address those gatherings that we have seen and talked about this morning.

Taking all of those elements as a whole, we take a "suite of measures" as a whole.

"Right at the cliff-edge, here, says Brett.

He makes the point that people are infectious before symptoms emerge, hence masks are always necessary.

Delta is winning the battles and the war now. I fear our strategy of holding it back is like trying to hold back water.

I think it's about stopping people using 10 broadcasters this week, a different 10 next week, etc etc. I don't really understand what it was about - I just try to state what he says, reasonably accurately. There's a media package (which hasn't come to us, of course) - I expect there's more detail in that. There's been no clarificatory question in the press conference, yet, so there's nothing further I can say.

Here's a link to the revised Melbourne lockdown rules, showing the changes highlighted in yellow":

https://www.smh.com.au/interactive/hub/ ... -rules.pdf

As to the "religious broadcasts' thing, it says: "Religious gatherings and ceremonies: No in-person gatherings permitted. Broadcast permitted with maximum five people, must be the same five people each time".

Compliance will fall as more people are fully vaccinated. Australia is still stuck in March 2020.
