That will be very interesting, there'll be a few hard stares happening.

Apparently she was homeless as well so the risk of people in shelters etc. Sex workers are classed as sole traders so they wouldn't have got Job Keeper, best they may have got was Job Seeker and at the moment 90% of SFA

Dave The Man wrote:My Sister said she read in NSW that they are Forcing HSC Students that are 16 and Over to get the Vaccine so they can go back to School
They'll need to do the same here too, and quickly to get every student double dosed. Given exams start mid October, they can only really be hoping to get students vaccinated for exams, rather than school.

Victoria is headed for day 232 of lockdown when this ones scheduled to end, NSW are in the midst of their first lockdown and regional NSW into day 4 of lockdown, so yes, NSW still a long way ahead of Victoria over this crisis

Day 200 tomorrow. We're only a week behind London in being the only jurisdiction with the longest lockdowns in the world.

What'sinaname wrote:you'll find it's 80% of people eligible to be vaccinated, which leaves out everyone under 16.

So a 80% vaccination rate is really only 64% of Victorians vaccinated.

I can assure you, Dan isn't changing any strategy with vaccinations. Even if 100% of adults are vaccinated, that's still 20% unvaccinated.
Correct.

70% fully vaccinated (over 16) = 56% fully vaccinated (entire population)
80% fully vaccinated (over 16) = 64% fully vaccinated (entire population)

At the moment we're on 27% fully vaccinated (over 16) = 22% fully vaccinated (entire population).

Countries that would have reached the 80% threshold as it stands are:
- Malta
- Iceland
- UAE
- Singapore
- San Marino
- Seychelles
- Uruguay
- Chile
- Nauru
- Qatar
- Belgium
- Denmark
- Portugal
- Canada

Countries such as Israel, Spain, UK, Netherlands, Italy and Germany would all fulfil the 70% target at the moment.

You can add Palau to that list. Japan gave them enough for the entire adult population so that Japan had a holiday destination.

Dave, NSW was able to manage the virus right through 2020 without resorting to major lockdowns. Victoria didn't. The only thing to learn from Victoria was that as a last resort, total lockdowns stop transmissions. That's not hard to understand.

Not really, Australia is at about the world average. New Zealand and South Korea have had even slower rollouts.

The rollout has been slow for a few reasons:

[*] Vaccine hesitancy, especially around AZ. Some older age cohorts only want Pfizer.

[*] Complacency and lack of urgency from the population to get vaccinated. We've seen similar trends in countries who have avoided the brunt of the pandemic.

[*] The time between two doses of AZ is 12 weeks, which has been the predominant vaccine in Australia.

[*] Vaccination started in late February because they first needed approval from TGA and ATAGI to proceed with the vaccination program. Other countries started vaccinating from December last year.

[*] Ineligibility of younger cohorts who are only receiving access to vaccines for the first time now.

Fully vaccinated numbers are increasing significantly everyday. 3% of the population got their second dose in the last 7 days.

Australia (entire population)
- End of March 2021 = 0.12% fully vaccinated
- End of April 2021 = 0.56% fully vaccinated (+0.44%)
- End of May 2021 = 1.93% fully vaccinated (+1.37%)
- End of June 2021 = 5.81% fully vaccinated (+3.88%)
- End of July 2021 = 14.83% fully vaccinated (+9.02%)
- August 2021 (current) = 21.78% fully vaccinated (+6.95%)

Based on current rates, 26.79% of the entire Australian population will be fully vaccinated by the end of August (+11.97%).

Victoria (entire population)
- End of March 2021 = 0.19% fully vaccinated
- End of April 2021 = 0.72% fully vaccinated (+0.53%)
- End of May 2021 = 1.66% fully vaccinated (+0.94%)
- End of June 2021 = 5.91% fully vaccinated (+4.25%)
- End of July 2021 = 15.33% fully vaccinated (+9.42%)
- August 2021 (current) = 22.08% fully vaccinated (+6.75%)

Based on current rates, 26.96% of the entire Victorian population will be fully vaccinated by the end of August (+11.63%).

Agree, and I don't think the comparisons from last year to this year are appropriate.

The nature of the virus has changed, with its R0 value being nearly triple that of the original strain.

If Victoria was dealing with Delta last year, we would have experienced around 2,000 cases a day. We were getting 725 cases with the original strain, so I can only imagine how bad it would have been with Delta circulating instead.

We now also have the benefit of vaccination, which in time will mitigate the worst aspects of the pandemic.

Let's face it, NSW has actually been the best thing that ever happened to the Vaccine rollout, because if NSW wasn't in lockdown, we'd be lucky to be at more than 10-15% of people vaccinated right now. It wasn't until things got bad that people started getting serious. We'd have millions of vaccines being thrown out because there would be no urgency.

Those countries ahead of us are because they had been $@&^# up badly by Covid and it was an emergency, hence they rushed through vaccines with emergency approvals, something we didn't have to do.

But much like the government wasn't in a rush because Covid wasn't spreading, people also would not be rushing out to get the vaccine if Australia was continuing to cruise along with **** all cases, Victoria aside, because Victoria was always going to have cases and lockdowns...

But even then, what some people deem an emergency right now is still **** all of actual people in the country.

The worst day Australia ever had, during Victoria's Dansaster last year, was still only 0.002% of the population.

Even now we're at about 0.1% of the population infected over the last 18 months compared to over 11% in Biden Country.

Herald Sun reporting Victoria will announce at least 40 new cases later today.

Suggestions it's more than doubling...so 48+ cases expected. Hopefully all in iso during their infectious period.

Doesn’t seem like there’s much chance of the latter, sadly.
